On this week's episode of Midwest Whitetail, we take a deep dive into one of the most epic single season deer hunting stories ever captured in the whitetail woods. A roller coaster filled with the lowest of lows to the highest of highs, we couldn't be more excited to share this one with you. Kaleb Greiner entered the 2023 hunting season with high hopes but he could have never predicted what followed next. Really crushed me this year losing og and lucky but to lose gq jr, Chuck Norris and then have gaurds die from running himself down midway through season really crushed the drive. Turns out, we got to the tree and he was done! It's incredible when a plan comes together like that because we all know way to often while hunting whitetails, the plan fails. When you combine that epic ending with the high and low points throughout the months prior to that, it really creates one of the best storylines we have ever had. Kaleb, to do this is incredible in the first place. The effort was second to none, but to get this on video (the kill) is astonishing. Explaining the equipment at the end is so important, but just one of so many choices have to be made and all the stars that have to align! What a story, and what a buck. I cant believe that stalk worked. Congratulations. I have seen deer live in tiny blocks of brush especially when there's water and food immediately around.

The stars definitely aligned for that stalk! From the wind direction, topography, Vendetta being between us and the doe, and most of all the little buck running and really helped us sneak in tight! The tiny blocks are definitely seeming to be productive for Kaleb and I'm sure more people will be looking at them after this! I know everyone has their opinion and I have mine. I've been a deer hunter for 37 years. I've watched thousands of hunts, from videos, to tv, and now youtube. Kale I remember when I was 25 and I shot the biggest deer of my life. I don't think I even came as close to being as happy a man as you were in this hunt. Great episode! Some may argue this buck was killed by the use of cell cams, but its not like he put a cell out walked away and shot him. He worked his tail off getting permission, moving cameras, overcoming ehd dead deer, all a ton of work. Congratulations on the successful hunt! That was intense seeing that giant at 10 yards!

It is pretty comical that the biggest guy on our staff is the one filming a spot and stalk harvest on a giant Iowa whitetail! But in the end they pulled it off and that's all that matters! Lane that is extremely well said and I am sure that means a ton to Kaleb! He is so adamant about giving back to the landowners and making it a two way street in the relationship and he prides himself on that! It's a special situation when you can obtain new friends and deeper relationships with the property owners and often results in longevity of having that spot to hunt! It definitely was a season of highs and lows for Kaleb. None of us here wanted to see the story of OG or Lucky end like that but unfortunately Mother Nature had different plans!
