I was in the middle of changing the rear brakes on my car, then up pops Si. Of course I had to stop and watch 😁. Then it was lunch time, so of course stopped for something to eat. Ready to get back to work and up pops Nicola. It's a conspiracy 🤣. Some nice finds today 👍, now I really need to get back to work 😁.

Sadly the area of Ahrweiler has been flooded in the heavy rain a few days ago and over 110 people died. The Apollinaris water still comes from Ahrweiler (not at the moment, most haven't got electricity and running water) it must have been on the news in UK. It's a very beautiful place here in Germany 🇩🇪

I have a plate that was made for the first class dining room of the Titanic, it is called Gothic Arch. Obviously it didn't come off the ship but would have been in storage to replace any broken items when she returned home to Southampton. It has been authenticated by the Titanic Historical Society. It cost me 50p from a car boot sale many years ago.

Hi Si, The piece of pottery with the 'growth' is part of an old candle stick the candle holder would have been in the middle with handle opposite the spike. The spike may have been to hold the candle snuffer.

copper tube is fuse tube used in WWI artillery and mines; head has two holes for inserting pins on an adjustment/screw tool used to screw in the fuse; example would be a 77/14 model - 75 mm high-explosive shell

It could have been a detonator. Tubes like that we're filled with fulmanated mercury and used to ignite many types of explosive. It's similar to a blasting cap. It could have been used to detonate a sea mine.

@@Sifinds -- Well, getting married (and divorced -- twice!), having kids (2 first marriage, 2 second marriage) does put a dent in one's musical "career" -- especially trying to hold onto music equipment! But I do have a complete Ludwig, 1965 champagne sparkle 5-piece drumset in storage (same type/finish that Ringo used on the 2nd Beatles US tour)!!! Maybe I can find some old recordings that one or more of my various bands did and send you those to see if you survive!!!! :-)

The name on the Apollinaris Bottle must be Georg Kreuzberg Ahrweiler Rheinpreussen. Ahrweiler, the place where the water probably came from, is heavily affected by the floods we have at the moment in some regions of Germany😥. So what a coincidence that you found this bottle right now. Selters is a brand name. The words below say Herzogthum (duchy of) Nassau. The duchy of Nassau existed from 1806 to 1866 and comprised parts of Hesse and Rheinland-Pfalz. Steve cam finding a RU-vid cracked me up 🤣

My guess for your piece of pottery with the "growth" is that it's an ashtray used by pipe smokers and the growth is used to clean the pipe bowl.

The two copper tubes look like pull detonators to set off explosives. In the end would be a ring that is pulled and hence ignite the fuze leading to an explosive charge. Very nice finds!!!

I believe the two copper tubes are aerial flares. The kind dropped from aircraft to light up the battlefield or enemy. The top has two small dots, and the phosphorus material came out the bottom where the large hole is burned. I can't remember how they were lit. But that's what I think they are.

Sad that the mallet bottle was busted. It’s still lovely though! I can imagine how crushed Steve would have been on seeing his precious finds smashed beneath the fallen cabinet! Thanks for sharing another fun outing! You guys always seem to find such good stuff! Sorry to hear about Steve's cabinet loss. I certainly would be devastated too!
