18,000 Original Mile 1981 Pontiac Trans Am Test Drive 

I bought a brand new 81 T/A.. It was a dark brownish color that glimmered purple like under street lights. It had a light tan interior with T-Tops. It got the looks and rode several college gals in parades! I traded that T/A for a Toyota Supra but about after a year of smooth power with a 5 speed and great gas mileage, I had Firebird blood. Traded for another 81 Trans Am which was dark blue with blue interior and T-Tops. I loved it. In 82 with the 3rd gen restyle I ordered an 83 Firebird - another blue with blue interior, T-Tops and the new HO V6 automatic. The 5 speed was not available with the HO option and the 301 V8 wouldn't get the gas mileage since I drove almost an hour each way for work. I miss those days!

What a beauty my Moms had a 79 T/A just like this one with black interior. Man I miss that car. I would DRIVE the wheel off this beauty.

I had this car as a boy in Illinois, but I didn't have the trans am version, it was just a Pontiac Firebird. I had the red interior too, but no firebird on the hood.

Does the dash clock work it's been known that from new after a year the dash clock stops working

But it has a 4.9 liter 140 hp engine . It’s not at all fast and most if not all stock entry level civics and corollas will run circles around it .
