No. 19 Aiming your Kinsect Slash with the reticle consumes double the stamina than free aiming it. The advantage is the additional vertical aim and the lower downtime between Kinsect Slashes. No.20 Using Kinsect Slash with insufficent stamina will result in an animation similar to the Spiker, dealing less damage than it but still getting you to the ground fast. No. 21 Using the Battle Powder Extract Kinsect means, that for each approx. 18th Assist Kinsect hit, the kinsect leaves behind a Powder Cloud. This cloud last 90 seconds and has 2 "charges". Touching it consumes a charge and restores your triple buff, or, if you touch it while triple buffed, restores your buff's full duration and adds 20 seconds to it. This Bonus caps at 110 seconds. No. 22 The heal of your powder vortex scales only up to 2 powder clouds and is quite significant (about 125hp depending on your kinsect lvl). You can generate two clouds instantly by hitting the monster with R2. Popping a single green cloud is about a 25hp heal. No.23 Recall kinsect heals you for about 70 hp if your kinsects hits any monster part during it recall animation. the heal varies depending on kinsect type and level. good video.
Very good tips. I was scratching my head with Kinsect Slash because when it comes to "Aerial IG" it felt way less natural than playing aerial in Rise. What you said about reticle aiming costing more stamina makes a lot of sense.
Battle Powder Extract Kinsect is my favorite kinsect type right now due to the Awakened Kinsect Attack using all your dust. In an opening, 2 tetraseal attacks spawn a battle powder cloud, line up the cloud between you and the monster and the dash from the second part of the awakened kinsect attack pulls you into the cloud giving you a brand new triple buff. It’s extremely satisfying and fun and you don’t have to scramble to get buffs again
I'm gonna add 24 because i only just figured it out on accident and the original comment is super useful already. No 24 If you have your yellow (orange? yellow/orange?) extract active, using either Kinsect: recall, Kinsect: harvest, or Recall kinsect gives you s. They're quite generous. At least they seem that way to me, but I tend to have full Evade window at all times. For all I know it extends the duration of these moves. Think I'll do some bomb testing to find out. EDIT: these aren't true s. Animation wise you still take the hit, and don't proc things like bladescale, but you are invulnerable meaning you take no damage regardless of what the attack may be.
@@richt7525 Bladescale requires you to use true evade (any variation of the Space Bar evade). other than that it won't proc even if it has true-I-frame
@@genryu_strike7992 Yeah... I said it won't proc. And bladescale most certainly procs in an evade window dodge that you wouldn't have been able to make without it, on every weapon I've tested, even the stranger i frame moves like the SnS backwards hop. If you're saying you have to roll to get bladescale to proc this is incorrect- i've gotten the buff with the bow's charge step and the long swords foresight slash or fade slash or whatever it's called these days.
I wish the next MH will keep the switch skill system. Maybe not the swap, but having customisation in our movesets is just a really good innovation imo.
It’ll be changed or replaced with something else. Diving Wyvern was arguably worse in Rise than in Iceborne with that small window of damage and how straight down it was. So that’s probably something that’s gonna happen
Baguette brigade represent. Some bonus tech for ground and air-ground players: -You can cancel the backward leap of Recall Kinsect directly into a forward aerial attack, neutralizing the backward momentum. If timed correctly you can precisely dodge a monster's attack (especially with the new Yellow Extract buffed ) and immediately leap forward, striking the monster in its attack downtime and minimizing your own. -Recalling or launching your kinsect in manual aim immediately turns you toward the direction your reticle is aiming regardless of previous momentum, and on top of that, can almost eliminate the recovery frames of Tornado or Tetraseal Slash. This works whether you have the bug on your arm or not and is one of the only true animation cancels in the game, and the s added to those maneuvers in the Sunbreak patch imply Capcom likes it that way and wants you to use it as a means of repositioning. Edit: Removed commentary about point 2 - I just misread the hunter's manual.
It gives charges to diving wyvern just like Strong Jumping Advancing Slash does. You can see in the clip it does almost double damage with all 3 charges, but none of the other Kinsect Slashes change damage from one to the next.
@@ratatoskr6324 Huh. Dang. Well, good to know the combo isn't necessary for non-Wyvern setups... Mind pinning this after I remove that bit, though, so folks can be reminded that the animation cancel tech exists?
I love this concept for the weapons. Shining a light on little-known/underused tech is a fantastic idea. I feel like there’s a dozen charge blade tricks people don’t know as well, especially with all 3 new switch skills.
One I just found out is that for Ready Stance. When you're in Savage Axe mode, pressing Circle or A while moving in a direction will result in one elemental discharge swing but keeping it direction neutral will do a double swing 🤯
Use tetraseal with one of the new assist booster kinsects…creates a ton of charge clouds and you can keep on shooting off awakened kinsect like a IG mage lol
Holy shit Ratatoskr this is an amazing video. I learned so much! So far I've been having a blast with swaxe but it looks like it's time to return to my true love, the IG.
The unique kinsect interactions with awakened attack is actually something I didn't know, think I'll be using it with a dust kinsect for monsters with less than desirable hitzones.
I knew about most of the things on here but I didn't know about the Spiker off the AKA vaulting dance. Sadly you cant Spiker off the vaulting dance of Advancing Roundslash. That would've been kind of amazing.
@Ratatoskr so is tetraseal the superior choice overall now for new assist kinsect playstyle?? It's the only switch skill choice I'm still struggling with for my build. thx, great vid!
With the new. Swap skill, what's the best setup skill wise for ig? Like what should I go with for default and what should be my secondary set up? Also what's a good kinsect? Using carnage with evening calm and valstrax set rn
The new speed kinsects also deal damage when you recall them while charged, making kinsect canceling in a typical ground combo deal at least 3 extra hits of charged damage. You can leave it out after getting an extract too and use jumping advancing slash to move to the opposite side of the monster to then pull the kinsect through them. Great video!
Thanks! I usually do the send instead the recall to deal more damage bit it is hard to aim when using it to cancel the ground combo, now I will try using the recall if it is doing damage as well
If you're on Switch, I highly recommend enabling gyro aiming in the options. It makes aiming your kinsect slash (and sending your kinsect out normally) so much more natural.
This weapon feels a lot different than in Rise after trying it for a while. I've had a lot of fun with Gunlance, and while I still have to try more sets (even if we don't have that many viable weapons) I'm farming equipment for this weapon and Switch Axe, completing my holy Trinity of weapons since 4U Edit: Wow, this weapon can do a lot if coll stuff now, I may need to watch a full guide because I feel like I need to learn the weapon again
Is it possible to get dual color kinsects from the start of the game or do you have to progress deeper in to have access to them in the shops or upgrades?
I played roughly 70 hunts now with this weapon and i don't understand the basics. Like clouds and kinsects moves etc. Learned that there is a kinsect special. Didnt even knew you can blow up clouds.
Recall kinsect and kinsect glide both do not consume charged kinsect. Additionally, Awakened Kinsect Attack does not recall 1st before sending it out, so it will not reset kinsect charge.
if you mark a spot and use kinsect glide without aiming, your kinsect will go straight toward it. pretty useful if you mark a hard to get extract and pick up red early, or if you have difficulty reaching a certain spot, like when a monster has big flappy wings. also, using kinsect glide with your bug deployed in range takes you straight to it. dunno an important use for it, but its probably nice for height
Additionally if you have your kinsect out on the field and hovering. Kinsect Glide will directly pull you to your kinsect. I've used this to escape Nova type moves from Teostra for example.
Is there any difference between blowing up individual dust clouds on a monster vs consolidating them into a larger explosion? Do status/partbreak thresholds gradually decrease and so burst is better?
I'm not 100% sold on the new "aerial IG" though. The fact that vaulting dance doesn't cost stamina is a huge deal and made the "style" more natural in vanilla Rise. But I'm still forcing myself to adapt and learn Kinsect Slash.
I play hybrid of Aerial and Ground depending on the Monster. Some monsters like Bazel is incredible when you get to spam Kinsect Slash and the powered up Diving Wyvern while Malzeno would need a more ground playstyle because I can't aim for weakspots specifically. Aerial when it's down for big damage.
I just unlocked sunbreak last night but it was late so i didnt get to play it yet. There was a lot of info here i didnt understand any of it lol hopefully it makes sense when i get the switch skills
I swapped to Greatsword just before Sunbreak because Insect Glaive was getting boring and felt lacklustre. And now this happens? What is any of this stuff?
As you progress through High Rank and Master Rank, you'll unlock the switch skills. I think some of them require you to craft a certain number of the right weapon type (like 8 I think).
The dango that reduces stamina consumption is good enough generally, but points in stamina surge or constitution will go a long way if you're doing lots of aerial shenanigans.
A palico with the dancing skill helps. The petalace with the most stamina also helps if you're not one of those people how immediately charges into the monsters with out picking up spiribirbs along the way.
I'm still a week into rise and still climbing up the HR. searching for the IG combo and confused when I saw the pogo move lol, I'm gonna comeback this when I'm done with the base game and started sunbreak
Hey yall i got a quick question if someone can help out. At 3:21 it shows that Kinsect Slash can gains extracts from the monster. However it doesnt seem to work for me. Is there a special interaction that needs to happen?
Figured it out. As soon as you get the red extract, you can no longer get any more with Kinsect slash. To get all three from Kinsect slash you have to leave the red extract for last!
Don't have or know the scroll that give access to Diving Wyvern and awakened kinsect attack. Also I can't aim my kinsect slash, it just goes in the direction my character is facing.
Number 19: Nobody uses double slash, and it gives me irrational monke rage when portions of a weapon's moveset tend to go unused because it isn't 'optimal'. Press X 3 times in sequence just once, live a little. Don't be a slave to Big DPS, free yourself from the tornado slash spam lifestyle.
@@ratatoskr6324 That's good to hear. The final hit did seem pretty meaty, and my build isn't super optimized yet so it seems good enough to work in on a toppled monster now. IG balancing seems to be in a really good spot. Aerial is probably the stronger option, but you can play however you like and do well, and the kinsect choice mostly comes down to personal preference.
Anyone know what affects AKA and Vortex Bomb damage other than the kinsect level on the weapon? I tested some skill like attack boost, it doesn't affect it. Even the red extract doesn't affects VB
2 things I notice while playing ig. 1. When you mark a target the kincest will auto track to that spot. So say you using blunt assist kincest in my case and I mark the head every time spam R2 + triangle it will hit the head no matter what unless the monster moves. This very good to getting KO. 2. Marker on target go away when you put away your weapon.
Only problem for me: The Kinsect Slash does less damage than the Diving Wyvern move. The Dive does like 1000 -1500 dmg (after you do 3 air combos) + 2000 -2500 dmg for the 3 air combos. I do like 3500 - 4000 dmg everytime with it The Kinsect Slash does like 600-800 dmg and you lose all buffs for it, so you can´t combo after it with some switchskills. I would like it more when you can do 1 more air combo, before all Buffs disapear.
Literally just hit the monster part the extract comes from. As soon as you gather red extract this functionality ceases. So if you always get red first your kinsect slash won't ever gather extracts
I think that you can jump 3 times with the new skill bind thingy even if you got red extracts, its grabbing the red with the jump that enables the finisher, not having it previously
