Suggested title for your 50 Day Challenge 🌞 "Trina-Louise does 50 Days with NO PROCESSED FOODS" Dear Trina-Louise the processed snacks and foods will continually call your name until you stop eating them, they're addictive, truly!

This may be a dumb question, but WHEN do you exercise? You said you try to keep busy during that 3-6pm time period - maybe that’s when your body wants to exercise, instead of in the morning or evening. That could mean just a 20 minute walk around the block, to let your brain refocus. Helps with your step count, too.

My doctor prescribed Wellbutrin, which curbs my cravings and helps me with not binge eating. Maybe it would help you. It helped my sister quit smoking and with cravings after her bariatric surgery. I'm on my own weight loss journey, so thank-you for your content! You are doing fantastic!

Plateaus are only broken by reverse dieting and stopping the gym. Cortisol is at play. How is your sleep? Have you had lymphatic drainage? There is lean muscle wastage with drastic weight loss thus a slowing of the metabolism. You would need to eat next to nothing consistently to lose weight and you wouldn't lose it very fast still. You're not a failure, this is the body trying not to lose any more lean muscle and thus releasing hormones that are making you hang on to everything. The way to combat it is to eat A LOT of healthy proteins for two weeks (if you can) and stop all cardio. You want weight training only to build up metabolism. No more than 3 sesh a week, the rest of the time is spent lowering cortisol as much as humanly possible and getting as much sleep as possible. The body isn't meant to stay consistent, we're meant to change things up. The only thing that broke my year long plateau with 1200 cals a day and 5 gym sesh a week (at 300lbs) was eating copious amounts of food for two weeks. Yeah, you go up, but it takes the body out of starvation mode and then you continue downwards much quicker from there. Give the body a break, basically. Trick the hormones. It's always, always, always a hormone issue when this happens but doctors are useless and just shame you or blame you. Eating less isn't going to solve this, working out more isn't going to solve this. The opposite of what you're doing - for a set period of time - will.

Try cutting down on ultra processed food as it’s designed to leave you craving it and provides little nutrients. I find eating more fat/protein and whole foods (less than 5 ingredients) helps cut down any cravings, cutting sugar and sweeteners out completely will stop cravings in a few days but not for the feint hearted. Check out the glucose goddess and start with her easy hacks.

This is just my personal story but I found I was very addicted to carbs so I follow keto with good success and most of all I don’t feel those cravings anymore. I’m not here to say my way is anyone’s way but I will say if you eat a protein breakfast . Protein snacks and keep carb as veg and rice, potato, pasta only with your main meal. I’m fully aware that others totally disagree, I’m not here to fight just to say what quieted my mental carb cravings. You’ve done sooo well and I wish you continued success on your journey
@Wandering.Homebody
@Wandering.Homebody 5 месяцев назад
Yes, this, 💯. I had been battling with insane cravings all my adult life, for decades at that point. Then, a few days after going super strict keto, once my absolutely mental sugar addiction started to wane a bit, so did the cravings. I will say, it's seriously impractical to eat strictly keto, but surprisingly doable, and just SUCH A RELIEF, once the cravings subside. And surprisingly quick,all things considered. I started my keto journey by first water fasting for 4-5 days,to reach ketosis as fast as possible, and then started with the keto, and maybe 2 days in realised that I practically had no cravings anymore. Good luck Trina, whatever you decide to do!!!

I find carnivore a lot easier to stick to than keto as it’s simpler with no macro tracking and I’m not tempted to eat those awful keto bars which are addictive, full of sweeteners and malto dextrin. It’s not for everyone though
@Wandering.Homebody
@Wandering.Homebody 5 месяцев назад
@@NHY367 yes, I hear good things about carnivore. I ve been vegetarian since I was ten, and am sadly too grossed out by the thought of eating flesh. I ve cut out everything that's hyper processed, so that includes any type of bars etc, which I d assume to be highly addictive ,for sure,and give me horrendous cravings. I stopped tracking micros after around a month. The blood ketone meter usually shows between 4.6-5.2 or so.

It sounds like it's not actual hunger from what you said. Therapy is your best bet to work out why you over eat in the first place. Behavioural therapy, possibly, after that. Nothing will ever stick long term if you don't sort your mind out. Good luck. You look great 👍

Hi Trina, I found your channel when I was researching WLS and had my surgery (RNY) done July 18, 2023... I am down 79 lbs and a lot of women who are on a Bariatric surgery group on Facebook are doing the injections also when their weight loss has slowed down after the first year. Some report major reactions and some are happy with them. I am too scared to put anything like that into my body and don't want to rely on them down the road or suffer from any lingering (negative) after effects. You are inspiring to me and you look great! I am finding for me personally, a lot of this journey ends up being mental. I've lost 79 lbs in 6 months but I see others who look SO much better than I do and have dropped 4 pant sizes after 50 lbs and here I am only going down 2 pant sizes after 79.. it's mental...... You can do this!!! BTW, tracking for me is necessary or I lose track and go haywire. I use the Baritastic app, love it!

I totally understand, I had WLS in January 2023 and am now just over a year post-op. I struggle the most with snacking during the day and it makes you feel like a failure when that causes weight to not come off as easily or causes you to plateau. Personally, I’ve recently been trying to track my food more closely and exercising more often than I was.

Youve done so amazing to get to whrre you are. Dont forget how much skin actually weighs so dont feel too put off by the scales, focus on other measures too 😊 i found switching to an anti inflammatory diet really stopped those afternoon cravings and cupboard rummages. Basically cuts out the processed foods that causes those drastic spikes in blood sugars. Also ive not tried this personally but ive heard 'zoe' is really good at teaching you how your specfic body reacts to different foods. Might guide you into what foods to avoid to prevent those cravings

Saxenda and ozempic didn't work for me. Tiny bit of effect for a few weeks only. Persevered for over a year. Spent £1000s and ended up about 5lb less than I'd started... I'm envious of people it works for....! Prolonged fasting and then intermittent fasting is the only thing that seems to work for me, but very slowly. But at least it has other health benefits. You've done amazingly and look great. Don't be tough on yourself.

The problem is that the surgery helps on the short run, what needs to change is the relationship to food, it is behavioural. What can helps is walking (or running if you can) with music. And you absolutely need a behavioural psycjologist.

Hi, I have exactly the same craving you mentioned, it drives me up the wall and all I want is sweet stuff in the afternoon. I’ve found having a boiled egg cooked and ready to eat really helps. It takes about 10-15 mins after eating it for the craving to subside but it does reduce quite a bit. I don’t know if that will help you but it may be worth a try if you like boiled eggs. 😊

10 stone loss is insane, I also think it's insane to expect a body to continue on a down trajectory for extended periods. So I say try a year of maintaining that, then try again. Maybe your body needs a break!😊 what I mean is maybe focus on something else...like gain muscles, train for an event, do a handstand, climb a mountain and hopefully the weight might be a by product if that achievement?

I thought of one more snack thing for anytime - I slice cucumbers and/or bell peppers and pair them with deli ham, chicken, or turkey slices. I'll lay the meat on the pepper sections and dip it in some sugar free salad dressing (I make my own copycat Subway sweet onion sauce but there are a lot on the market ready made). I use that as a dip for the cuke slices too. Ends up being a nice little serving of protein and only a few calories and carbs.

Thanks for your honesty and openness about the slow down in your weight loss. The great news is you still lost weight though. I am struggling after losing weight it's creeping back on, Christmas and winter doesn't help. My danger time is similarly 3 to 6pm. Probably as I have more free time then. One thing that helps me is sucking a Halls, sugar free, menthol sweet. It lasts over half an hour and the taste makes eating anything after taste weird, or chewing minty gum, or brushing my teet, has the same effect. But having said all that the Christmas weight gain is still with me. I know I will do better when warm sunny days return. Good luck on the challenge. Im going to try intermittent fasting .❤

Hi Trina You have done so well its amazing dont put yourself down. I had WLS in march 2022 I lost 60 kg put I had stopped losing weight after 15months I also developed severe indigestion and discovered i had a hernia 3 weeks ago I had to have my bypass revised which meant the milk diet again etc even after that I've only lost 6kg since which is quite upsetting but I also still get really bad hunger cravings even though I can't eat very much at all. The only thing I had found that helps is jelly it only contains 5 calories and it doesn't hurt me to eat a pot other than that I'd be very open to any suggestions as well as I find that part of this really hard too.

Hi Trina, I just had to come on and say that you have done exceptionally well and it's also very very ok to feel frustrated. I think the challenge here is the mental challenge. Last year I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I have sworn that I will not take weight loss injections and not have weight loss surgery because I am really quite frightened of both, basically my health (?) anxiety trumps my need to lose weight. Which is weird because, surely, the health anxiety should help me to want to 'BE' healthy. Yet - there is a blocker. I have recently discovered that I am neurodiverse and that was a reason for not losing weight. My brain works so differently and it sabotages things if they're going well because that is my brain amongst other things. Knowing what I know now has given me good reason for what I decided to do. And that is to set out exactly what I NEED to be in a healthier mindset and exactly the structure around that. I have decided to go to a plan that I have found has worked before and I have decided to take it very very slowly. 0.5lbs a month is all I want. If I lose 26lbs a year then so be it. It absolutely is where I would be happy at as I have a 5 year plan and I should lose a good amount of weight to get in to being healthy. By healthy I mean no longer pre-diabetic and sleeping better and having more energy. As long as that is happening my weight no longer will be a problem. Good luck in this new challenge - I hope it works out. I do recommend you looking in to whether you might be on the spectrum because understanding that can really help.

OMG, you are so not a failure! Look at what you have achieved so far! Just think of all the things you can do now, or can do more easily, compared to what you were able to do. I'm 51 and been morbidly obese for 20+ years (105 kilos for 170 cm height) and I looked into surgery but due to my chronic illnesses my specialist said the surgery and recup would be too hard on my body. All those years I've been keeping an eye on what I eat and because of that my weight has stayed the same. But I can't seem to loose any weight because I can't increase my level of activity due to my illnesses. I would love to be under that magic hundred though and have a weight that is double digits instead of triple. But I pat myself on the back that at least I haven't put on more weight over the years, especially with being so inactive.

I had the GS in Feb 2022. I'd recommend therapy. You clearly still have an issue with food ( me too, but I started 17.8 I'm at 10.5 now) I would also recommend not buying foods in you like. Eat little and often. Try limit sliders full stop and opt for a protein like crab sticks or chicken when you want to slide xxx P.s you have done fantastic to lose all that weight!! You're not a failure!! I had my skin removed and I probably did it to early, tbh i was 5ft 2 and i got it when my bmi was stjll 28 so I'd not get skin removal till your near your goal xxxx ( I know you said this just my experience) Also you won't be able to get all ur skin removed in 1 surgery I'm not sure if you meant 1 surgery. I had the fdl inclusive of the full mummy make over with my breastst and 360 lipo I lost around 10lbs. I need my thighs doing now xxx

I’m not someone who’s had WLS but I think afternoon cravings are pretty common. I’ve heard it’s to do with the drop in blood sugar after lunch, which could explain why you’re getting your cravings between 3-6pm. A dietician I used to see told me to combat the cravings, have sufficient protein but also a handful of nuts for the afternoon snack is a healthy way to stave off the hunger (which hopefully would remove the cravings). I know everyone is different though. Regardless you’ve made amazing progress and should be proud of yourself :)

Over the years, I've tried many things (excluding surgery). I've been on both Saxenda and Ozempic, lost about 30 pounds, then plateaued and didn't lose a single pound. Two things have helped me - intermittent fasting (my current plan) and hypnosis (back a few years ago). I lost 60+ pounds using hypnosis and kept it off for 5+ years until stress-eating got to me again. I may try it again but if I stop eating by 7 PM, it seems to help. Now, I just need the self-control to actually stop eating at 7 PM. 😁

My heart goes out to you... you've done so well, yet it seems that you are still feeling unhappy and frustrated... I get that you're still wanting to lose more weight around your tum, but I wish you could see yourself as others see you... you are such a beautiful, vibrant, lovely young lady... Please take time to relax, to just stop, breathe, and think about all that you've achieved... ❤

You should be very proud of yourself - I’ve loved your channel since the very early days and also been supporting you on this journey. I’m no expert etc but my thoughts are these.. I think from listening to you that possibly some more work on your esteem might help, either counselling or working on this yourself with books and online worksheets etc, but it sounds like the cravings are more in the mind than the stomach and also the talk of failure etc feels like it would really help. As for cravings there are things to explore such as lower gi foods to prevent sugar dips etc but also sometimes it’s better to just have a small or sensible amount of what your wanting and factor this into your calories rather then have twice as many calories eating all the low fat /low cal stuff that isn’t hitting the spot. Like have the cookie or cake for 200 cals instead of eating 3 low cal bars, a yogurt, olives nuts etc it would hit the spot, be in your allowance and sometimes you end up eating more or just as much with substitutes that don’t make you feel better, it’s not a fail if it’s planned. I just think things can be not black and white fail or success etc being kind to yourself doesn’t mean you are not accountable it means you treat yourself with compassion. I would also say walking is the very best thing to do, and it soon adds up if you spread it over the day - 15 mins first thing, 20 mins on an evening after dinner before you’d watch tv etc that way it doesn’t take up a chunk of time and also getting some in early on really helps before the day gets busy. I think it will all happen but it’s consistency that will be key, progression not perfection. Huge hugs

I haven't had bariatric surgery but I have been losing weight with fasting and low carb and our starting weight was about the same. Anyway I work from home and my "binge time" is in the evening. That's when everyone else is home and eating and then later in the night it's just me until my shift ends so it's really easy to just keep eating and eating. My solution has been to eat all of my food BEFORE that time of day b/c it's just too hard for me to eat in moderation. It was SUPER hard in the beginning but now the cravings have significantly decreased. I allow myself to drink sugar free drinks and chew gum but sometimes artificial sweeteners increase cravings so I have to be careful with that. I know that since you had surgery you might not be able to get all of the food you need to in before this time but it might be advantageous to think about timing and maybe during that part of the day only allow yourself to drink protein shakes or that be the time you meet your fluid goals. It might help reprogram your brain that you don't eat during that time of day. Hope this helps!

I have not had weight loss surgery, but have struggled with my weight all my life (now in my 40's). I have that same afternoon mind hunger. Sometimes I eat more filling and healthy snacks... Nuts, hummus & carrots...etc...other times I just nap ( if I'm sleeping, I'm not eating), or go out... I put on my app (LoseIt: you can track almost anything) what I'm going to eat and try to stick to it, but it does not always work. It's still a struggle, so much so, I'm sometimes in tears coz I'm so frustrated. I'd like to know too what others do.

My exact weight today is 238.4, I started taking Mounjaro on Christmas Day weighing 261.4. I am a diabetic and it has helped me tremendously! Like you said, it works for some but not everyone. You have done amazing and remember slow and steady is the key:) my goal weight is 160lbs. So I still have a way to go, I take one day at a time and keep on trucking 😊

Hey Trina you look amazing and you're doing so well! Stay positive. I'm only sharing what I personally do because you've asked us! And before any comments to say this is promoting starving and binging - it isn't. So I was really struggling with cravings also and I can't do dieting. I fast throughout the day drink plenty of water or squash. Then I eat my days allowance 1800 calories on a night. Not binging just a hearty evening meal and maybe a snack or dessert. This is to train my insulin spikes which cause the cravings through the day. (Our insulin spikes throughout the day when we eat causing cravings) It takes a couple of days to get used to it, but now I find I don't get cravings or any hunger throughout the day and I'm only hungry on the night. It means I can still eat 'nice' things and feel satisfied but still stay in a small calorie deficit. Google regulating insulin spikes if it sounds like something you are interested in. X

I had RNY in December 2022. I've lost 130 pounds and still have 40 to go. It's going very slowly at this point, but I think that's to be expected. I follow a lot of low carb and keto channels and use their recipes to do my own low carb (and low fat with some adjustments) baking. I make a lovely filling mug cake that's only 54 calories, for example. Look up 'ridiculous brownies' - the liquid in those is diet soda (zevia is made without artificial sweeteners, so that's a good choice if you can get it - or use flavored sparkling water). I regained two pounds over the holidays but I was baking almost every day for weeks, and I lost it again when I got back to basics. I read labels a lot. I found a puffed corn snack that a cup of is only 25 calories, 1 gram of fat, and 1 carb. So if I feel snacky I just have a few of those. I eat lowfat protein options like tilapia and chicken breast - though today I had half a chopped sirloin steak for the first time in years and it was SO good. It was 23 grams of protein and only 5 grams of fat. I even had roast potatoes with it but I weighed out what I could have and only put that much on my plate. It was about 43 grams, a nice little serving. So that was my carbs - that and a little salad. I'd be happy to mention some of the low carb channels I follow if you're interested and don't mind me mentioning them under your channel. Best wishes for continued success on your weight loss journey!

Personally, I wouldn't fight the craving 😂. If I get hungry around 4pm everyday I'm going to work it into my daily eating to have a snack or meal at that time. I currently intermittent fast and try to stay at a calorie deficit and I'm down about 30 pounds 😊 You're gonna hit your goal eventually 🤩👏🏾👏🏾

A portion of the stomach produces a hormone that stimulates hunger. With RNY, that portion of the stomach is still present. I used to have those cravings all the time. I no longer have that portion of my stomach, and food cravings are a thing of the past. Most of the time, I don't even get hungry. I hope you figure it out. Your plan sounds good! Good luck

Gastric sleeve that removes about 75% of the stomach reduces the production of the hormone. Duodenal switch is another surgery that takes out about 75% of the stomach, but also includes malabsorption unlike the sleeve procedure. DS has the best long term success rates. That is the procedure I had.

You have done so well - 9 stones is a tremendous achievement. My daughter, who does not take after me in this respect, thankfully, is probably 7 1/2 stones at most so you have lost the equivalent of a whole small adult plus the weight of an average nine month old baby. Amazing. I think what is happening is that your body is changing shape. I noticed your lovely face and slender shoulders on screen. Also, I think you have probably been suffering from the winter blues. Month after month of grey skies and almost continuous rain and the short days (thankfully starting to lengthen now) are enough to make all of us feel a bit low. Do you take vitamin D tablets? My gp told me that virtually everyone in the UK is deficient in vitamin D by March and this can have a great effect on our moods. I also have daylight bulbs in the room where I work most. I think the only advice I can give is to be kind to yourself. Look back to the beginning, especially watching some of your videos, and you can see just what a difference there is. Also, every time you beat a craving, congratulate yourself. You are an inspiration to many, many people and have a lovely personality as well as being very attractive.

If you are not working with a nutritionist for portion and diet control and a therapist for the emotional part of this as well as a personal trainer at the gym to make sure you are doing what is effective for your body then you could be wasting a lot of time trying stuff that won't work. I hope you are doing some of these but if not please start. I have watched enough episodes of 600 Lb Life to know that large scale weight loss doesn't work without at least a therapist and personal trainer at your size.

I don’t think surgery would work for me as I don’t eat big meals (I have a hiatial hernia and physically cant) I just choose bad food. I know 100% my eating issues are due to craving dopamine and my undiagnosed ADHD but my doctor refuses to help me. I’m really considering seeing if hypnotherapy will help.

Anxiety is similar to ADHD, it's so crippling you can't settle on a darn thing!! Anything unexpected just throws you and it's so easy to get distracted. I pick the wrong foods too. If you look at the amount I eat, you'd be like, why is this woman 16st but the sugar... Oh dear😂

Please don’t think I’m speaking out of turn, it’s hard to convey emotion through text. I can’t help but perhaps feel you’ve lost sight of why you had WLS to begin with. Did you have any type of psychology before you had surgery? Many of us who are plus size, have become this way for a reason, often due to an underlying eating disorder which, more often than not is spurred on by our emotional connection to food. WLS, diets and everything inbetween is all well and good, but until you’ve really got to the root cause of what caused everything, you will perpetually be fighting ‘with yourself’ for the rest of your life, & it’ll be incredibly exhausting. WLS isn’t about the number on a scale, the number in clothes, etc as I know you’re aware. It’s about your overall health, well being and how you’re feeling within yourself. I’m not allowed to have WLS due to a disability I have, it’s too complex and would cause many, many issues internally, & Drs aren’t willing to take that risk. However, over the many years of research, meeting friends who have had the procedure, my understanding of it is that it is meant to plateau, things will slow down, & that’s why the psychological aspect long term is so important because that’s when your own tools need to come into play, which is why WLS is the hardest decision because not only are you dealing with this ideal you had that your body should be working harder to fight cravings, eating smaller portions etc, you’re now dealing with said cravings & desperately trying not to undo all your wonderful hard work. The thing is with weight loss injections, there is a new ton of evidence of the long term side effects of these drugs on your body, they’re discovering severe long term kidney & gastrointestinal issues that may not be able to be reversed once you come off of them. Also keep in mind, once you’re on them, what happens when you come off of them? You’ll be back to where you are now.. fighting the cravings and scared to face food in fear of putting weight back on. You’re almost in a dangerous position mentally of developing disordered eating at the opposite end of the spectrum, & it has been known for WLS patients to end up with those kind of ED’s. Have you ever seen what 14lbs looks like IRL? 1lb = 453g, a pack of butter is 250g, lurpak is 400g. That’s nearly 16 tubs of lurpak. Put that together next time you’re in a supermarket! You’ve lost that equivalent off of your body! That is INSANE! There is a saying in the weight loss world; slow & steady wins the race. There is no race for you to lose this weight. So, if it took you 5-6 months to lose 14lbs, that’s 1 entire year to lose 2 stone. That’s AMAZING. You need to take your height into account as well as additional extra skin, which weighs a lot on its own. Ignore what ‘BMI’ you should be, it’s a very outdated way of looking at weight, doctors at my GP surgery only use it as a guide and do not (& haven’t for a long time) rely on it to tell them what any one person should be weight wise. Stop comparing yourself and your progress to others. They’re on their own journey. Yours is yours alone. I would still recommend seeing a psychologist who specialises in WLS / ED’s, I think it’ll surprise you how much it could help you at this point in your journey, see how you go from there. Be patient and kind, it can take time to warm up with someone (& not all therapists fit the bill, you may need to go through a few to find the right fit!), perhaps revisit everything later on in the year? You aren’t far out of surgery and everything you’ve mentioned, from experience of having long conversations with friends who have had WLS & from my own research in the hopes I could have it myself, it all sounds really normal to me. Sorry for the long message! Hope I haven’t offended. Take care & look after yourself, Laura x
