The style that we all calling "black" is what was often referred to in the industry for the longest as "urban." In the 80s/90s/early 2000s it was considered niche and this was used as an excuse of why more production capital wasn't given to black/brown artists. (which even then was a joke as the young white artists have traditionally taken influence from the young black/brown artists and/or cultures) That niche is now considered the most popular and trending of all. Though it does make sense for the young artists today to have some influence from it naturally you're right, she seems to be pushing an image all of a sudden BECAUSE it's popping. On top of that, I'm sure the labels themselves want these artists to go in this direction. I mean hell, we getting trap sounds from Ariana Grande nowadays lol...

However men have been in charge and dominant even as they are oppressed by the upper classes or other "races". There is a communal aspect and a personal aspect. Men have long set the tone of families and communities. Women have not been in a position to combat these tones within the community and are largely still seen as property. So their personal viewpoints do have impact but how much at large is debatable. Especially when it's seen as desirous to kiss other women to attract men, why wouldn't plenty cosign ideals that are harmful to themselves like supporting exploitation, for clout by association? Anyway you seemed very defensive and so I wanted to bring up something broader.
