R35 came out in 2007 in Japan but 2009 elsewhere

When it overheats the temp gauges on MDF become red and limp mode lasts a few minutes until it actually cools down. This car is tuned with Ecutek and by default flashing (not solid) check engine light meanse Engine Knock. The car was pulling of timing to protect the engine from blowing up. It's either a bad tune, ignition issues, bad gas or he tuned it to 600hp without changing injectors and he's going over 100% IDC in high revs. Unless the tuner assigned the flashing engine light to something else, it's engine knock.

Suspect fuel level too low, prob risk of lean out so ECU safety kicked in. Half tank with lots of Gs without fuel tank swirl pot or baffles isn't a great idea...

@@sjorsangevare No. I'm the Chief Operating Officer for Stopelon. The "passenger" can't show his face because he risks losing his regular 9 to 5 job for being involved in a crypto project. I would have gone myself (and show this pretty face jk), but Covid restrictions didn't allow me to. My regular job boss would be ok with it. His isn't. It is what it is.

It's definitely still a cool car, but there's generally a reason why you usually see the R35 used for drag racing or street rather than on tracks. It's a boat.

@@DarkSwordsman R35, a boat ? Sorry but no. The R35 was made for tracks while being a every day supercar. The difference between the first version (like this 2009) and now is insanely big. The gap is gigantic, not even comparable. Just to cite an example, Nissan is destroying almost everyone very recently at the *official* FIA SGT+ since 2018 (to cite one of them) with the newers ones with many won champion titles. This a very capable car. Also, if the GT-R were a lot lighter, it wouldn't have performed so well. Hiroshi Tamura himself, Nissan and a lot of others clearly explained it. And to be honest, it is not heavy compared to many others cars of today. And it Still has that true driving pleasure, hydraulic steering etc... Even the latest supercars don't have this anymore.

The difference between a 2009 GT-R and even 2018 alone is phenomenal. The difference between the first version and now is *insanely big.* The gap is *gigantic,* not even comparable. It's not the same at all. 2010 then 2011/2 Facelift, then 2014, then 2015 then 2017 big facelift then 2018/19 then big revision 2020/2021 and finally 2022 now. Not even to mention Nismo's versions. These are facelifts and at the same time performance, more power, way lighter, way less unsprung weight refinement and chassis *upgrades* in *every way.* And even by that the R35 still looks fresh and agressive. GT-R is not a ''make up'' machine. And i am clearly not the only one to say that, screw the haters that knwo nothing about this car. But a car to make up with *performance and functional parts all over the car.* Nissan upgrade the car every year performance wise. That's how you make a timeless and *memorable* and world loved/known car and it succeeded. Not changing the shape every year for nothing like some do. This car is sublime, the most beautiful GT-R (excluding Nismo version) is the 2022 T-Spec version Track Spec in Midnight Purple for me even though I'm not the only one to say that. It has a ton of road presence, and those rear light at night. It's like a car from fiction.

Japanese know a thing about reliability, but the GTR certainly isn't the best example of it. These cars had so many issue in their first years.

180 thousand km with engine knocking half the time, no wonder they're giving this car away. VR38 isn't cheap.

Check engine light only blinked when the transmission oil temp was very high, so it's probably only related to that?

@@rodrigomuller on all the tuned GTRs i had, when the car overheats the dash gauges become red and it limps for a few minutes not seconds. Under 130c it's still within safe range. The car most likely had Engine Knock and was pulling timing so it does not blow up. Most likely bad tune, ignition issues or bad gas. I've been owning modified GTRS for a long time and i experienced both overheat and knock. 99% sure it's knock .

​@@teabaggins3517 Oh nice. The person responsible for the GT-R did mention the tune wasn't properly done by the company he hired, so maybe that's actually it. I'll let him know.

@@rodrigomuller one major thing that shows it was not due to overheat is that when it does overheat the temperature gauges in the MDF become red and the power is reduced for a significant period of time. I don't see them becoming red. It could be that the tuner set the limit at 120c so it's some custom heat protection from the tune but on all the tuned GTRs I've seen, including on forums and battalion35 group, flashing engine light is knock. Better get it fixed before engine blows up.
