Great video for a direct comparison of stock to 180/30's. So many claims about improved mpg, but I've never known anyone to actually realize a mpg increase going from a HEALTHY stock injector+tuning to a new single shot+tuning (all else being equal). It's usually someone who is getting 11mpg with worn out injectors and no tuning - they step up to a 160/0 with a good tune, maybe even some other supporting mods, and see 13-15 mpg. My first mod at 200k miles was just a tuner and it got me over 2mpg immediately. I just had new split shot injectors installed at 260k miles on my 2000 F350 Crew Cab 4x4 Long Bed SRW FX4 Automatic 3.73 Gears running 33" skinny tires. My old injectors weren't bad, but I could tell they were starting to show age. It bumped me from 14.1mpg to 14.8 in mixed driving (no towing) with no other changes. I've checked it about a dozen times since the new injectors and I'm always between 14.7 and 14.9mpg. Highway mpg has always been variable for me since I can't always keep it under 75, but it seems to have gone from high 15's to low 16's with the new injectors. Towing mpg with ~9,000 lbs of gooseneck+cattle is low 13's running 75mph. Pretty good since that's also what the 2016 Duramax averages on that same trip with about 10,500 lbs on a slightly longer trailer.

As with any engine, the combination of parts has to be matched, as they all must work in harmony. I'm not surprised by the results at all, but if growing was the goal, they'll work for now, and serve you well down the line. Lotta kids have purchased camshafts for their hotrod over the years by looking at the biggest ones in the catalog first, instead of deferring smaller than they thought they needed, and ended up unhappy with a poor running dog of an engine because they overlooked the combination they actually had. The costs snowball quickly don't they? You have to seriously be diligent on a build and stick to the goal, because it's far too easy to just upgrade one thing here, and then another there, which means this thing has to go too... It'll get outta hand and snowball fast.

Anytime you increase nozzle orifice size it hurts atomization which hurts efficiency and ultimately mileage. You can compensate with tuning somewhat but a well tuned smaller orifice injector will always out milage a well tuned large one. If your only goal is power output at high RPM, then larger nozzles make more sense. The injectors are rated by the volume of fuel they can inject in one injection event in cubic centimeters first, followed by percent over stock nozzle size second. 180/30 is 180cc of fuel that can be injected into the cylinder and 30 is the percent in diameter of nozzle size increase. The reason you're dropping ICP is because of the larger nozzles push the fuel out faster. Take a deep breath in and exhale as fast as you can through a straw and without a straw. Which one makes your face turn red and builds more pressure? If you want to make more power without hurting mileage on a tow truck go with stock nozzle bigger cc. If you really want to understand more about injector nozzles watch this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jwt4vfYoneQ.html&ab_channel=DynomiteDieselTV

Maybe it’s my right foot but I’ve seen a drop across the board 😪 I don’t worry too much about mpg. Just smiles per gallon!

180/30 are a hell of alot different than stock double shots. If you were to compare 160 singles I'd be in on this comparison.

Hard to say if the MPG increase is just due to having new injectors and good tuning. I wonder if a brand new set of oem with tuning would get better mileage
