A great old clone, there. Guns are especially cool when they are passed on to us. Many thanks for sharing your story. I believe the yellowish lube would be "Bore Butter", as i have a bunch and it's very popular and effective in keeping the powder residue soft.
You're probably right about it being Bore Butter. I've heard a lot about it, but had never tried it because I've typically used either Crisco or some homemade concoction or other.
That's a nice revolver. What a kind friend! Early in the week, I traded some unneeded brass for brass I do need, a cast pot for 10 pounds, and a big ladle. The fella threw in 4 tins of caps, gratis. Christmas came early for me! I wish a merry Christmas for you and yours too, my friend.
You may be interested in a conical mold from Eras Gone bullet molds calls a “Richmond Labs Bullet”. It’s a civil war era bullet profile that works well. It’s a good bit shorter and more of an abrupt ogive making loading easier in Pieta revolvers and makes for good energy transfer. Eras Gone has a RU-vid channel you may find interesting.
