Here is an interesting footnote for you all to ponder. America never won a race against any of the next three fastest boats in that race again. And both the replicas [one larger,one smaller] built at the time. Disappeared with very little account of their presence. Actually the larger boat was lost on the Goodwin's I believe, but had not lit any fires on the racing scene. Her Rig was changed in later years, and there are several fantastic black and white photo's of her creaming through the water under full rig, if you have never seen them they are definitely worth seeking out. The greatest slight to her was delivered by the U.S. Navy in the late forties when they housed her in a condemned boat shed, that was encouraged to collapse on her. Unforgivable !!!!!!!.. Exactly what sort of Petty minded Cretin holds a 100 year grudge against a sailing ship ?

A reading of the facts and some original pictures would have been better. Someone's vision got a little out of hand.

My GGG uncle George Steers designed and built this Yacht. Nobody knows this but the design of this Yacht came from my GGGG grandmother calf. Cool stuff

Who made this? And why? And why no real documentaries?

This was great! Seems a lot of folks are upset about pounds or guineas the sailing scenes were well done.

Stopped watching when they said the One Hundred Pound Cup was worth one hundred guineas which is 105 Pounds. If they cannot be bothered to do the research - not worth watching

AMerica even has to sail from New York to England to compete. When America won by a ton they didnt give the real throphy to the team. They just grab a throphy from somewhere and awarded it to them. The trophyi is even bottomless. So when the British wanted to recover from the embarassment, the American yatch team said they have to sail their boat to the US.
