I never understood why someone in the modern age would cry over someone who lost their lives hundreds of years ago and never knew them. People are strange I tell ya.

My dogs and I looked for lost treasures on our walks. We found lost silver and gold jewelry and many stones. Now I have a large collection, but those dogs died. My new dog is now good on the leash and we have only found a few things.

In any gold rush the ones who make the biggest fortunes were not the miners and prospectors but those who sold the miners and prospectors their tools, food, and clothing.

I learned just a couple of days ago that my 3rd-great-grandfather, John Bennett, was a sea captain -- a master mariner who lived right there at the River Dee, from whence the Royal Charter was launched. According to my family records, John launched it, and his wife Jane christened it. She had smashed a bottle of champagne against the side of the ship for "good luck." Regarding Edward Bennett: the brother of that 3rd-great-grandfather of mine (my 3rd-great-granduncle) is named Edward Bennett. He also was a master mariner. I kind of doubt he ever was on the Royal Charter, but he does have a connection to it. (I know he did not die on the ship, at least.) The year, the geographical location, and Edward's occupation all line up. That snuff box may or may not have been his. If he wasn't on the ship for that fateful voyage, perhaps he had gifted the snuff box to a friend who did go on the ship.

Absolutely loved this short documentary. I'm a prospector from Geelong and there is a street in the main city of Geelong called Fenwick St. Got me wondering if that's where old mate Fenwick lived after the tragic night. Did he come back this way to continue his hunt for the Victorian gold?

In the house of my late Welsh grandmother, in Moelfre, Anglesey, in the 1950s my English told me that there was the Capts' chair from the Royal Charter ( with plaque on back of chair ) & the ships' clock..... whatever else the Francis family had salvaged from the ship wreck....',,,,, was a family secret.

Truly a very special show! I think every single soul on this earth, would love to know as much history as they possibly could about their origins!

As most people know, the world slowed down during covid. The waters were more calm. Even sea creatures seemed to be coming out of nowhere.. Now, the settle of everything.. What couldn't be seen before, now, is happening.. the Earth settled down for a minute..
