Red star are a club with passionate supporters, and a great history..after they beat Liverpool at anfield in the seventies, bill shankly and his backroom staff changed there style of play..they realized that to be successful in Europe they had to play more akin to red star..three years later they won the u.e.f.a cup, followed by the European cup the following season..and as very sad as war is,if not for the Balkan wars red star would easily have won the European cup many More times with that team they had in the ninties..great team and supporters!
What a game by Red Star, Alex Ferguson talks about that game till this day,he said literally they could lead 0-5...We Red Star fans are proud on that and that RS fan and Captain and then Man Utd Captain Nemanja Vidic played for both...
@joiganja Have a look at this pal, we won in both games and i think only 2 clubs did that in their history, Shankley adopted Red Star style of footy and they won CL 3 times in 4,5 yrs, second video is about that... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-msUOCCLLsm8.html
Mate you're one of the few United fans on YT I really respect because you're always honest & unbiased & you're 100% right with this one, Savićević tore United a new one & the United goal was very fortunate.
@@swkenny Savićević had probably the greatest individual performance by an opposition player at OT in the past few decades. That Crevna Zvedza team were superb, and would probably have torn us _several_ new ones in Belgrade if the final had been two legged.
@@scherben8870 Yeh I agree & the only other individual performance that good at OT that I can think of is Kaka when he was at his peak with Milan or Ronaldo for Real Madrid in that classic 4-3 CL game. I wish there were more fans like you in football because there's too much hate in football for my liking, banter is fine.
@Slavic Celtic If Savicevic and Pancev had the sharpness that they showed for the then-Yugoslav National team, then United would have been finished long before scoring. Dragan Stoijkovic would not have those missed those chances!
@@scherben8870 respect from Red Star fan, big clubs have decent and honorable fans, United and yourself are clear sample of it. On a fair note, United dominated first 15 minutes of game, than Red Star took it over, missed few goal scoring chances and that’s football, well deserved and all the best 🙏
United had home advantage in this game (I'm sure no return leg because of the recently started Yugoslav civil war), contrast with Liverpool in 1985 who had to play a one-off game on their opponent's ground in the Super Cup final against Juventus!
I don't understand why the Red Star management will accept to play one match without a rematch and give it to Manchester United Stadium? A very strange and stupid decision.
@@saravana21543 It's not. The war in Bosnia began later in April 1992. I think the Red Star Belgrade administration was too tolerant. There was no reason not to play the match in Belgrade. The war was only in Croatia then.
