Ammunition swapping and being able to swap uppers and lowers on M4's, M16's, and AR-15 variants could add a little more versatility to not only combat but survival overall. Let's say 9mm and .22 are more common than .223 or 5.56, and definitely more common than .308. You could have an AR chambered in the 9mm or the .22 and use that rifle for most engagements, while saving the heavier duty AR chambered in .223 or 5.56, or .308 for ranged or heavier engagements.
Would definitely love to see the option to add a tent slot under the backpack and also a gas mask slot on the back or side of the backpack. It would make the game feel more immersive for nomads and just the overall aspect of the wilderness camping system.
that's something that I have been asking for. you can strap a lot of things to the back of your backpack so they don't take up too much room like a hatchet. allowing you to have tarp on the outside of your backpack would be nice but there just aren't many things you can use tarp for and the threat of rain and cold is too little so it isn't much of an incentive to bring tarp around with you.
And be able to craft with leather. Like belts and sheaths. Maybe even a hatchet holster that could hang on your plate carrier or belt. Idk that'd be cool.
Rather than the map changing with the seasons I would like a hotter summer and a debuff for wearing too much gear during hot days, respawning is always the same thing with hot days you'd have to switch your priorities and would have a chance to kill a more geared player because they had to remove some stuff to take the heat
They won't add a rail to the 6x atog or the AK because the devs stated they didn't want any Attachment-ception (attachment on an attachment). Of course this was 6 or 7 years ago when someone asked if they'd add sights that attached to the m4 carry handle (similar to how sights attach to an M16a2 carry handle irl and what I hope happens in game too)
Dogtags for ID n a wheel barrel u can put extra heavy things into like gens n barrels so u can travel/run at normal speeds shoot out of cars or car mounted weapon alarm system with noise/lights or a camera u can watch
I agree with everything you propose, but we know how bohemia works, they'll add one thing, two will fuck it up, so maybe it's better not to do anything because the modders are better.
Cool ideas! Unfortunately for us console gamers we just need the game to be smooth first. My friends and I can't even drive cars on my private server as we get kicked and wake up on the beach. Lol. I honestly don't think this game will reach it's potential.
radio rework, base rework and blood trails for bleeding would all be awesome. Also really like the slow morphing of the seasons idea. I can imagine me and my boys sitting on a mountain noticing that its starting to get cold, winter is coming
I would definitely like to see base building reworked and expanded. Same with storage. As for Camo netting it would be cool to be able to turn it into a gillie.
I agree with the attachment system, it needs a BIG update. I think whenever they add the M249 they NEED to add the bipod back along with more attachments to more weapons, once again another reason as to why DayZ has ENDLESS potential yet it seems the devs pit thier time in other places...
A buildable/repairable helicopter on the Tisy heli pads or in NWAF would give players even more incentive to hunt for and loot heli crashes. If the devs added an accessible engine bay to the heli crashes in which you could find a heli exclusive compnent, I think it could add some balance to idea of a working helicopter. Also, with introduction of bikes maybe a smaller bikeshop building could come with it, where repair kits and bike wheels/parts are more common.
We need an update allowing us to capture farm animals that are already in the game. I just wanna build a small cabin in the woods with a few chickens and maybe a cow.
The idea with the radio is a brilliant idea, maybe an emergency broadcast in Russian comes on stating rough map coordinates of where they are going down, this would tie in to using maps, GPS and compass to move towards the heli.
I think more implementation of the generator into base building would be spectacular. I think you should be able to wrap fences and gates with a wire that is connected to the generator which will shock people unconscious. Even after the game is destroyed the electricity should still run through the wire on the ground preventing players from attacking bases without destroying the generator first.
Good idea but maybe make the wire cuttable with pliers or jumpable, it would be very tedious if you had all that work do destroy the gate but then the generator is out of reach, this would extend your options beyond just waiting for the generator to run out of gas
Still want more base options, not just the size of walls, etc but things that can be done in your base. Maybe building a bed to rest in for a stamina buff or if you've got a camp fire while resting in bed it increases the buff. Tanning racks for skins to be properly used. More dynamic events, not necessarily for more loot but for story telling. Finding dead zombies in a town to spike the paranoia that someone might be in the town with you.
They should add metal frames to walls, doubles durability. An electric fence, attach a battery and wire to gate, for increased defense. And make flag poles also add durability to built structures. A base is like your home, you want to feel safe. Can’t in the current state of base building.
genius that would defend against melee breachers. would take a lot of metal wire and would need battery and generator to recharge once and a while. Only way to beat it is destroy the generator, shoot the wall or use explosives.
Bikes were in the original mod but were removed when standalone came out, I don't know why they removed them because they were great for early game travel

The dial lock like you said just has to have a animation play of one cycle for each number for you to unlock the gate used this with @dumpgrahs mod

As a vanilla only player, I think dial combination locks could easily be improved by simply changing how you interact with them. Simply have the mouse wheel to quickly spin each dial, you could change the numbers as quick as you can scroll. To stop code crackers easily getting in, have an animation to attempt unlocking with the current combination by pressing mouse 1, instead of auto unlocking with the correct combination. Base owners could unlock it in a fraction of the time, whereas code crackers will take even longer.
i would love to seem more variant of weapons that would be amazing like fire arms there could be so much more added but one i would love to see is the M249, L96, and the HK416
I think that the longer you are alive the more stamina you should have available, ie. You get in better shape for the weight you have. Eventually full loot and a plate should have a half bar of stamina, if youve survived 1 month, real world time
Bicycle idea and seasons was great, but ability to track other players would require stronger game engine which is nearly impossible at this point. Performance will be set to none.
I think just about everything you mentioned would be amazing but give them a bigger team for bug testing its always been priority n°1. I'm sure those community servers make them enough for it.

I think if Bohemia Interactive were wise, they'd be more involved with mod makers, and make deals to implement popular mods into the core game. This is actually why I love Keen Software House so much, the creators of Space Engineers. Space Engineers has so much content that used to be only available through mods, but the content was so popular and well thought out that KSH decided to start working with modders to get the mods added as core features. Some modders were even offered full time jobs at the company, and are now professional developers with KSH. The game just keeps getting better and better. I think Bohemia Interactive really needs to adopt this business model, maybe even implement the premium cosmetic DLC like what KSH has been doing for quite some time. They make sure the premium content always has a vanilla counterpart (though some blocks like the transparent LCD really need to be core game) to avoid pay-to-win. I think BI could do the same, such as release premium character customization, such as ability to change voice and voice pitch like in Arma 3, maybe have the ability to design a custom flag for your base, and maybe even have more character customization like face sculpting. Stuff that wouldn't really give you any advantage, but be a way to support the game development, and get some neat customization stuff. Maybe even the option to choose your custom character's blood type. I myself IRL am O-, but I rarely ever get that type in-game. It actually really suits my play style, too, because I like to be a helpful survivor, and being a universal blood donor is great for helping others, but of course, the only blood I can receive is O-, meaning if i need a blood transfusion, I'm in deep shit as it's fairly rare. Fortunately IRL, everyone in my family is O-, and even my brothers ended up marrying O- women, and having O- children. Really weird it worked out that way. Anyway, choosing blood type would be cool, and isn't a pay-to-win feature. Would be cool for some role play stuff. Anyway, I really think BI needs to consider KSH's business model. I love both games, and they are very different, yet I think if you like one you might like the other. Different genres, but similar in enough ways. We really need to see BI start hiring or at least working with prominent modders to fast-track development. How many years have I been waiting for archery to return? You should be able to burn a lot of different items like clothes, and wooden planks for warmth. There should be a welder that you can hook up to a generator with a bunch of batteries. You can repair barrels, and a metal frame to go with the metal walls.
One thing I really don't agree with is the cross compatible mounts. What would be the difference between an ACOG M4 and an ACOG AK ? Basically nothing. Right now the scopes make them play differently, with the NATO guns/attachments being the endgame gear you only encounter rarely in chernarus and livonia. I think it's cool working your way up from a bad AK and a 3x PSO to a chad M4 with a 6x ACOG.
From my experience (arma2 to standalone), I find this game lacking any development since release. I love this game, but I would never recommend it at it's current state to anyone, ever. (ok maybe if it was f2p lol) Ideas - Co-op spawning for people playing with friends, it's not easy introducing friends into the game, most people want to spend time playing with their friends, not trying to find them. Looting used to be more enjoyable because you could learn where every item would spawn, guns/ammo were more accessibly early game instead of just a mid-end game thing. (Elongated the early-mid game experience, made it less about just reaching the top left of map to use guns, also changed how it felt from dying late game, because you would have to deal with the boring early-mid game again) Zombies in this game could be much more enjoyable than it is, maybe more variety in end game zombies, possibly more mutated zombies (please take inspiration from resident evil omfg), I really don't care about the current zombies, they are all the same zombies with different clothes and hp/dmg xD, and as someone who likes zombies, this game really lacks depth in the way you deal with zombies.(no gore or walking zombies for early game to help new players progress are my big complaint) Base building kind of ruins a bit of the immersion of a zombie survival game, hoarding gear promotes camping loot respawns which again, it ruins a bit of the immersion, it can block certain locations of the map that players may not be able to explore, and they can be quite the eyesore. More player interactions, I think chernarus needs to be smaller or increase the vanilla server capacity. Lastly, the end game is very lack luster, all it has going for it is a loot system. This leaves you with very few options, camp a high activity spot for pvp/interactions, build a base, and .....idk maybe interact with modded map features like namalsk aliens or deer isle's bunker/scenery. This game should be better in a better state than it is, but I think this company doesn't care, and I hoping there will be a day where we get a company with a similar product that does.
I kinda want to see fire be implemented. Molotov’s could be made with alcohol tincture and a rag. You could actually have your character catch fire if stood in flames or a campfire. Hell, it could even make the flare gun a viable weapon as long as it’s not raining or your target is wearing anything wet or damp
Imagine when it breaks and your player stays on fire even in water or invisible fires from molotovs lol. Seriously though great idea molotovs would be epic.
It would be nice to have spray paint. I work 40-60 hours a week and would love to be able to spray “please don’t raid, there is nothing of value here, I work to much.” On the side of my base.
I doubt they would bring helicopters to vanilla. They’re way too op and a single 3 person squad with a helicopter can completely dominate a server. Additionally this would require some higher tier weaponry to counter that’s just ends up throwing the whole game off balance. The inclusion of a low tier sniper and mid range weapons, along with emphasis on survival craftables indicates devs want broaden the mid game and expand on those interactions.
Could not agree more on camo netting, applying to stationary vehicles and over all applying to more items. Stashes, hasty shelters and crafting gillie suits. When first playing I wanted to take down the cammo netting with the poles and wondered why I could not. 100% about thr stair issue. I really want sleeping bags as well.
The implementation of seasons could transform the game. Now once you get hunter clothes you're set to travel at any moment without risk of dying of exposure. In summer that same gear could kill you from heatstroke, forcing you to get less insulated clothes. You already get heatstroke in vanilla if you stand too long close to a fireplace. The force change of outfits will trigger gameplay changes also, because less insulated clothes have less inventory space.
Would really like to see more shelters... like craft 2 then combine them to create an A frame design with 250 inventory would not only be realistic but more immersive for us nomadic mountain men living in the woods
These are all greats ideas and I love it. I just wish they would add the bow and arrows back In and more improvised weapons into this zombie survival game.
Use empty food/ soda cans to drink from. Like I could refill a soda can or bean can and cover it with duct tape to make a new water source. I also think that anything you consume should be left as trash that you have to destroy/ bury with a shovel or carry with you.
All of these are great ideas. The added wrappers from food eaten and blood and footprint trails would create a lot more lag I feel tho. But all great ideas!
Honestly I completely agree with you on the updates. Though I do like the additions of the vehicle engine upgrades they added. I honestly feel like they went a little more backwards on it. The M3S used to be the work horse for servers, and with this recent update, it's actually just better to use a gunter making multiple trips then the slow ass truck making one. I would also love to see a armor feature added for vehicles. Like you can use a welder ( Blow Torch upgrade ) to weld sheet metal to your vehicles to make them harder to kill. But by doing this, you would lose speed and the ability to drive off road with any decent speed. Or even add it to windshields, but now your view is limited like the tank drivers of the Second World War with the little view port. Or even using the Epoxy to glue plate carries on to the doors, but by doing so, you can't remove them or removing them will put them into a damaged or badly damaged state. Adding the pouches could give you ambush options as well as allow players to store small items in them like code locks and such. There are many different options that can be added and expanded upon. Like the idea of leaving foot prints in mud and sand or cans and rappers on the ground after eating. Why not spend cases from fired ammunition? Base Building needs a massive improvement. The Build anywhere has been amazing to say the less, but let's start being able to build concrete walls, or at least cinder block walls. Which would increase the usefulness of construction sites as well as make it to where you could back up the truck and slot the entire stack into the inventory instead of carrying X amount at a time. Granted all of the ideas I'm speaking of could be implemented or ignored for a game play reason. But if I was the survivor and I had access to all the stuff given to us in DayZ, I wouldn't be letting anything go to waste. Sheet metal on the ground? Taking it. Granted it's rusted and in a damaged state, but that's better then nothing. Oh I have a wooden wall, why can't I just add the sheet metal onto the wood increasing the durability of that single wall making it harder to raid. If they added concrete or cinder blocks, they would need to add something to remove it. Like actual Military C4, or even some form of rocket launcher. Nothing major. Maybe a LAW which can only be used once. Make it a 45-50 slot weapon making it a option but limiting everything else you could carry. Adding different weapons would go along way as well, like the M14 EBR for the Marines since they don't have a DMR style rifle ( No I do not count the LAR as a Marine rifle ) which the Russians have the VSD. A lot of these things can add to the game play and give players choices in how they wanted to tackle a target or deal with situations. Like the suppressors are a great idea ( But they are nowhere near realistic, and don't work on Zombies ), but having them last 50% longer and work on Zombies would make them so much more useful. A helicopter would be great, but unless it has a massive storage space and gives you the ability to lean out and shoot from it, it really doesn't offer anything besides the cool factor. The Mods give the game so many options and honestly the modders have done all the work at this point and the Devs could just purchese the rights to those mods and use them as they are already functional in there current states. Even could be expanded upon as well. But this is just my two cents.
I would really like to see more diverse flora with practical uses, as well as more chronic illnesses to cure with herbalism- like getting trench foot from wet feet and finding an oregano plant, pulverizing it with a small stone and cooking it in oil (fat) to make a balm that cures fungal infection. Elderberry tinctures for cold etc. A means of learning real herbalism and plant identification which would be paramount for survival after a real day zero.
Please for the love of God remove your comment. I don't think you know how often your feet or wet or you don't spend enough time in the woods. I don't want to spend an extra ten minutes going around a stream or have to build a fire every ten minutes. My feet are always wet. The herbalism idea is great though.
@@jeffreydallas6047 lol how about play community servers that cater to a more gentle playstyle. Trench foot is a big deal IRL and i do believe most dayZ players are infatuated by the realism that the game attempts to encapsulate. I only have 2k hours... on deer isle alone.

So unless they can make some sort of wireframe hitbox for it, i disagree. If someone was shooting at your bike in real life, you'd probably die from bullets hitting you, rather than them hitting the bike and you falling off as a result.
Agreed. And it's only high end aluminum / carbon fiber / fiberglass bike frames that couldn't survive a direct hit from small arms, steel tube bike frames are incredibly durable, and the round tubing makes them more likely than not to deflect a bullet.
An addition i would really like is something that is surprisingly simple. Umbrellas. Simply put the umbrella in your hand, press F or Left click, and its up and you will no longer get wet when outside in the rain. Another addition i would like is dual wielding. You have two hands, why not make the most of them? Maybe split the hands slot into two seperate slots. A pistol in one hand, a flashlight in the other. An umbrella in one hand, a torch in the other. Hopefully this will be something that'll be added in 1.20 or above
The two hands idea is great, there's a million utilities for that, I just would add that some itens would need two hands, and also that could be a good way to implement 3 item crafts
There was also a leak/capture of additional base building pieces over a year ago, they were put into a mod called "vanilla base building plus", Marks showed them off before we found out they were vanilla pieces found in an experimental patch files and then quickly removed, DayZ/BI then quickly DMCA'd the "mod" and had them removed from the workshop..that was almost 2yrs ago, and we STILL don't have them.
I love these ideas... They should bring the bike back, especially if you're a freshie... Trying to get back to your base or body or wherever quicker. I like the firework trap too, I woulda never thought
I think Heli crash sites would be a good looting place but also be a neat feature to allow the heli to be repaired to working order. Grab parts needed to make it enterable but the blow torch will need to be used to each part to "rivet or weld" together essentially bringing the health of the heli into a flyable state.
4 sharp sticks + metal wire = stick trap. You could build plots with a shovel and stick them inside. For a stealth option, cover with camo net. I imagine placing them outside your base to discourage people from stacking up over the wall.
Pungi sticks, 4 sharpened sticks + rope then shovel for placement. Maybe a slot for like rotten meat or other things to give a chance of infection if someone falls on it and a definite leg break with bleading if you run directly over it
There’s a Skyrim mod where u get to choose your life after “going to jail” u get to choose your life after. I think that would help solo players or players looking for more of a story to relate more to our characters. For example u wake up after being knocked out from a stampede in a hospital being surrounded or overrun by the infected. U will wake up with hospital clothes on or maybe a police suit (giving us more incentive to use them instead of role playing or just using them for rags) and since it’s getting dark your left with 2 choices stay the night or fight/ run out and head towards a police station to find out what’s going on or head back to your (home) from there the game starts to be dayz again and your adventures playing the game become your story BUT at least it would cover a back story. Or as a firefighter someone lights a bunch of infected on fire in front of the station. Your team responds using the hose the man drops dead right in front of the station, firefighters are standing by for the police and ems still putting the fire out when the infected attack the lead firefighter holding a hose biting his hand causing him to lose grip which makes the hose spray everywhere the pressure pins u up against a wall and whips u in the head causing you to have a concussion and go out. When you wake up I find the station is either full abandoned or you find your friends still…walking around Inside with all the doors locked to the outside. You can Escape and find a hospital for meds or wait out the night or head home. This would give us incentive to see what a house all fortified up would look like or make use of houses or apartments more.

Twitch Streamers need to stop giving basebuilding a bad name. Most of all top Twitch DayZ streamers do no like bases. It's because if someone is in there base, that's 1 less piece of possible content for there stream. So don't let the streamers gaslight you into thining Vanilla Basebuilding is bad.
They should add MREs at the military places and randomly in military style backpacks like how sometimes a school bag will have an apple. It would just be nice to have high tier food that selfheats

I think they need to make DayZ more like Arma 2 DayZ was/is. Arma 2 dayz was/is so much more fun. They DEFINITELY need to add a bike, and the dirtbike would be nice too. Id REALLY like to see helicopters and planes too, that was one of the most fun things about arma 2 dayz is flying around. Man getting your first helicopter or plane flixed up after like 50 hours was so awesome, it changed the whole game, made it a blast. Im honestly pretty sick of the whole point of the game being "RUN NORTHWEST" and thats literally it. Also the base building needs to be closer to Arma 2 DayZ. If they did those things, the game would be amazing. In Arma 2, it was SO AWESOME running around the map, and seeing all the COOL bases everyone built. Some where castles, some were bunkers, some were compounds, it was awesome.

( multiple metal sheeds, wire from bard wire, blow torch, maybe some wood or a pipe. ) X4, since you need to cover 4 sides separately 6. Craftable bow, and arrows 7. - rework zombies... movement of zombies is buggy sometimes and its old-school - adding more modern weapons like we can get from mods. It would make DayZ more interesting than finding basic vanilla weapons - AI Bots. Arma 2 had AI Bots/AI Bot missions...DayZ is in idk 8th year and except from modders we didnt hear anything about AI Bots from Bohemia. I think this is must!!! Just like Battlefield and other games..even arma reforger have AI to fill up servers - Helis - More immersive base building. Current one is so basic and walls can be easilly raided...not to mention we have walls/gates/watchtowers but its missing floor or roof - some vanilla server with Artilery strikes OFF - right now if u dont wanna play modded servers but hate artilery strikes system u are screwed as every vanilla server has it automaticly set to ON - agree on locks. Basically make game simple. Nobody wants to go to base and spent 5-10s unlocking doors risking he get shot by camper - definetelly bicycles - agree on storage. i think gun wall mount would be unrealistic for Bohemia but simple crates for tools/weapons, medic boxes, fridges... would be cool - About time to make Chernarus v2. Some of us played on this map since Arma 2 - Mission system - probablly something like supply drops
I've been hoping bohemia would make DayZ the game it always should've been since stand alone was announced... and here we are almost 10 years later and we just had a big update to "fix" vehicles. Sadly all they really did was change how vehicles play... they better in some ways, worse in others, but overall I wouldn't say they better. The real problem, and this has always been the real problem, is server performance and network synchronization... aka... lag and desync. Players have gotten so used to the lag, desync and general clunky mechanics that they think this is just the best it will ever be. Well... Star Citizen has ground vehicles working quite decent which is miles better than DayZ. I even get better FPS in Star Citizen... how is it possible that DayZ is behind SC??? It's nothing short of amazing how much the community add and update all the time (and is the only reason the game is worth playing), but the actual devs of the game can't get vehicles to work... something that's been solved in gaming 2 decades ago.
Ok so... multi tool that can do 3 jobs. (Knife, pliers, can opener. Should be able to build a improvised canteen with a bottle and a rope or duct tape. Attachable foregrip for every weapon with rail mounts. Fingerless gloves with any glove just combine with a knife. Things I'd like to see ^^^
I wish they would add some new pistols, or an entirely new type of gun. Maybe an automatic handgun or an LMG. Could be cool. The pistol could be hard to control in automatic fire, and the LMG would likely be drum or magazine fed, unless the devs make belt links a findable object, which would suck. A light, hard to control, fast firing gun, and a heavy, ammo hungry LMG that would be quite slow to move around and aim.
A complete rework of the buildings, every room is accessable, as well as basements/attics. (I dont mean new buildings, just a rework of what we have without Goldeneye looking 3d models, and more variations of textures). Weapons, which require more components, receiver, bolt, barrel. Imagine breaking into a police station army to find a pile of rusty Ak barrels and nothing else?
ive had an idea for a few years now..and ive never seen anyone mention it o rbring it up, but id like to know what you all think about it. I think there should be a vanishing HUD symbol in the bottom right. And when youre within (idk-maybe 150 meters) a certain distance, a little fireplace symbol pops up and is colored from dark red to light pink depending on how far away you are from an actual fire. You were talking about realistic items in this video, and realistically if you were running through the woods, and were over a 100 meters away and couldnt make them visually they could quite easily go unnoticed.
