8GB of ram is easily consumed by about 30 open chrome tabs. That’s why I just replaced my MBP with an MBA w/24 GB of ram. You can always add external storage.. there is no external RAM.

@@pretty_bored Those trackpads are a carpel tunnel nightmare. I can run circles around co workers when I use my surface with touch and they are over there trying to fiddle with that stupid trackpad. Apple is so dumb for not putting touch on laptops. In fact they are going the opposite.....The settings screen on a mac now resembles the setting screen on an iphone/ipad yet you cant scroll with your finger. WTF? Apple is way past due to put a full MacOS on an ipad and bring touch to a laptop.

At least that popup gives you the choice. What's even worse is: Oh I see you decided against reboot/shutdown but instead put your pc in hibernate. So let me automatically boot your pc while you're sleeping, install windows updates and then force a reboot. Because clearly the reason why you picked hibernate cannot be that you had important files open that you wanted to continue working on the next day.

Absolute utter bollocks. I bought a base Mac Mini 8/256 M1 a year or so ago and it was a steal for the price of 450 USD brand new sealed box. Superb machine for the money I paid. Still flies through everything I throw at it, and that includes Cubase/Reaper for music and sound design and many other sound manipulation and basic video creation (1080p exports) software. All I added was a Samsung 1TB external drive permanently plugged in to keep the internal SSD 100% clean.

@@zeberto1986 Shame you can't see an absolutely amazing machine for the money. Your comment wasn't remotely funny in any way, so a sense of humour wasn't required. And FYI : I'm no "iSheep". I just need a great desktop machine for music and sound design work and the odd video creation project, and just about everyone knows Apple are fantastic at those things. My phone is a cheapo Xiaomi Android (because I HATE mobile phones) and my tablet is a Samsung Tab S7+. iPhones are stupidly expensive and I would never buy one. Same with the large iPads. I got a Mac Mini because it's superb at what it does for MY needs.

Lots of truth here. Just one thing I want to mention: as an iOS developer using multiple devices at work, I have found switching back-and-forth between touchscreens and physical keyboards to be *extremely uncomfortable.* I would never get a touchscreen laptop or iPad+keyboard. It's either touch OR keyboard. Not both.

@@newbleppmore7855 Because it uses win 7. Win 10 will die on 4gb of ram because I had to use it with 4gb of ram. Infact, most phones have 6gb of ram now, and 8gb is slowly becoming the minimum there.

I'm a lifelong Linux user. But I use Apple as well because the commercial music software I use is not available for the Linux platform. But the new Apple silicon rocks, amazing performance! The Mac OS is also pretty friendly, being a Unix variant. The terminal prompt is still my best friend. 😁

LMAO I NEVER would buy an apple product. I don't want one for free. You can put it, where the sun never shines. My Androids usually reach an age about 6 years before i replace it with a new one. And i pay less than half the price, get better specs, sd card slot, headphone jack, a bigger battery and so many more benefits. The only good thing are the apple Air Tags. These are better than the ones for Android.

Windows gaming laptops go even 1 step further. Not only do they have upgradable ram, storage, wifi, etc. but some even have upgradable batteries so you could install a larger battery for better battery life and upgradable gpu's via egpu support or even the rarer mxm gpu's. Heck, others pack upgradable desktop cpu's.
