Good morning from Cape Cod ⚓ I follow King of Obsolete in Northern Manitoba. He has a couple of Linn tractors and Lombard sleighs, still with skis for staring. It's very cool that you guys are maintaining and utilizing this awesome equipment 👍✌️🇺🇲
They are working on getting a set of skis for the lombards. The 1914 Steam Lombard has a set, but the others are in need of them. Will make the winter event much easier to run on them.
If only we could Built things like this Now eh? Such a shame. Turned from a re-use, repair society to a Disposable one. Unfortunate isnt it? I still prefer the Old stuff . Cheers.
I remember dad having one as he was born in 13.... nineteen thirteen. He would say... you have to light a match to see if the headlights were even working. He had rigged up a deal to rob heat from the exhaust, had a tarp over the sides and so then you didn't freeze to death but sometimes that was a close call. When he would park it in the winter as not needing for a good spell, he would shut the fuel off and let it just run out of gas. Back then price of gas was ten cents a gallon and money did not grow on trees is what he said yet now we know that trees produce a darn good living if your in a area that still uses wood for building with. Only the very best timber was cut, only clear of any knots and defects. I made out well cause of that tree had the best firewood from his doing a long butt cut to keep any swelling of the tree trunk from lowering the price. I would get a good ten feet of number one clear firewood, plus the top where the limbs were. I sold wood for five dollars a cord, and that was delivered, and stacked in their woodshed. I could cut and deliver two cords a day and made more clear money than dad did selling logs. We just seen things in a different way
Cool old truck. I wish you would have shown how the hoist worked. Is it hydraulic? Cam and roller? I noticed those bright dash lights. Would make it hard to see at night
Great input and thank you. It’s actually a rack and pinion. The big curved arms are the racks and they are driven by pinion gears. Can see this a little better at the 6:50 mark. It’s all mechanical using gears. Hope this helps!
The bed lift is very loud - I suppose that's the truck engine throttling up to power it - is it hydraulic, or mechanical? No speedometer because Really?
