This was a good one. Hopefully someone can use this video to help them with their oscillator. It's Amazing how all the parts clean up like new.
I Love This Old Stuff. Stay Tuned for more soon. I have a lot more to do.
I thought I was going to be done today..... Oh Well, It'll get done soon enough.

@@Living-The-Dream Thank You Sir. I had fun filming the clean-up process. There was a lot more but I didn’t want a 2 hour video. I need to open it back up to extract that 3rd washer I put on the bigger gear shaft. 1 of them was supposed to go on the outside of that knob. At least I know what I’m doing now so that should take much time. Stay Tuned for more soon.

@@ivanstiles7030 Me too. I think I’m just going to do the basics to see if She’ll run again. Then maybe do a full restoration if She runs perfect. We’ll see what happens 🤞🏼

@@goons3160 Yeah…. Everyone fixes these old oscillators a few times in their lives. I would love to see your process. It’s cool to see how others do the work. Thanks Marine. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I could smell the old grease when you cracked open the gearbox. Lol

@@AmeriFanPicker Hahahaha. Yup…… What a smell. I couldn’t believe how much was in there. It was fun smashing it. I couldn’t risk losing a washer so you know we have to do what we have to do. Haha. Did everything look right when I put it back together??? Besides putting that 3rd washer that wasn’t supposed to go on the inside of that shaft. I’ll take it back out then put it where it belongs. I caught it after I put it all back together. Oh well, without mistakes, I would never learn. Thanks for watching and the funny comment. I’m glad I’m not the only one that knows the smell.

@@spiderlovesbeerohyeah4760 yeah that smell is like no other. Yeah the washers can vary somewhat. There’s always that really tiny one under the smaller gear. And then sometimes on the top the amount can vary. I think the most important thing is that that smaller gear has a tiny bit of up and down travel. Worst thing you can have is that one is up too high or down too low in relation to the worm gear (once assembled look through the hole and you can see how that gear should be centered on the small receiving hole that the shaft rises in…but you don’t want it firmly in that centered position. Better if there’s a little free up and down play so that it finds the center. Made that mistake before).

@@AmeriFanPicker That makes sense. I wish there was a washer diagram for these old fans. It would be cool to know which washers go where. I guess we’ll find out once I fire this Ol Gal up. Thanks for the info. I can use all the help I can get.

@@spiderlovesbeerohyeah4760 yeah. I’m still kind of learning myself. I’m Marc btw….charting on your post about the leather washer. Yeah and it’s so hard to take pic when you’re dismantling a gearbox because your hands are instantly filthy. I’ve set up my phone on a tripod and look a video. Did that for my 75046 dc Emerson….but now I can’t find the video lol. But…I’ll figure it out. Wasn’t anything differnt than usual forever washer wise.

@@AmeriFanPicker Oh hey Marc. It’s cool to be in a few different platforms. There’s so much knowledge in those groups. I’ll have another video up in a few minutes. I took the oscillator apart to move some washers around. Let me know what you think. I hope I got it right this time. It’s at the end of the video. I worked on the blade and blade guard. Then cleaned up the base and motor housing a little. I love using old 1950’s car wax/polish on these old fans. That stuff is amazing…… You’ll see 😎
