Well, after 3 long months, and hundreds of hours put in, Buzz finally finishes this classic radio. Before he strips the cabinet, he tries to copy the "dog decals" as a tribute to whoever installed them. Then after stripping the cabinet, watch as he applies a beautiful finish to this gorgeous radio, with the help of fellow RU-vidr radio restorer David Tipton's undies! Buzz runs into trouble with the speaker, so he tries to re-cone it in an entertaining segment. Then he runs into more trouble trying to mount this speaker, as it is was not the original size. Then, Buzz shows off this labor of love during the final reveal. To close out the video, Dickel preforms his Comedy Club routine .

Hi Buzz, that radio looks awesome, great job. I was enthralled when you were doing the speaker that turned out great too, I tried getting a new cone for a speaker this week but could not find one the right size, yours was perfect. You were a little unkind with my undies, I have a clothes line on our front porch and I hang each pair up for a week to dry out and harden up before wearing them again, BTW, can I have them back? I have no explanation about the hole, must have happened in transit 😉 Thanks for the shout out too. Dickel is too much 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks Buzz.

Your restorations always have a spiritual feeling for me. Your efforts immortalize those who created these wonders and you took it one step further this time with the preservation of Millie and her friend, recognizing the personal connection a previous unknown owner had with this radio. I really want to see ya ✌️ have “The Crosley Collection”. By fixing all of these Crosley’s up, you’re not far from it. The grille cloth looks like 👍 it might need some attention. I hope 🤞 that the dial cord is good 👍, because they are so hard to restring, if broken or missing. To go with that, you’ll want to have a new dial light 💡. Just don’t push your finger through the speaker 🔊 cone. This project will be worth a few beers 🍺.

I've learned that it is not good to keep the speaker cone without any cover, such as a piece of wood or cardboard with a hole. Better to use a speaker baffle. This way you can judge better the sound quality. If I remember correctly, its purpose is to keep free the cone movement. Try it.

Buzz, That radio was so lucky to find you. I think this radio and the replacement parts (speaker cone & bottom trim pieces) were all destined to find you. It’s like it was a meant-to-be restoration. Nice job on the speaker, by the way. Did the lucite back help the speaker to sound better? Could you tell any difference with it on or off?
@Buzz1151
@Buzz1151 Год назад
Hi Tom...the stars were aligned for me to find those trim pieces...what were the odds? The speaker sounded good inside the cabinet, but didn't do a comparison test with the back cover on and off. 🎄

Buzz is that a color laser printer? What make and model is it? For mounting the transformer, I might have considered using a dremel with a cutoff wheel to make a large square hole in the chassis and mount the transformer in the manor that it was designed to be mounted. OR I would have cut out openings in the end bells for the wires, made some brackets and mounted it vertically like the original was flush to the chassis rather than suspend above it with the long screws.

It was not a good idea to install the fuse holder near the pots. To change a fuse (don't forget Murphy) will be a problem.
