Thanks for the idea of the roller. I've done this technique but used a comb on the surface. I LOVE the texture you got. A lot of times when I don't like something right away I just live with it and find my opinion can change.

Just beautiful and love all your work. I have tried to make a pice with texture on wheel but always ends up not tall or to heavy. Any suggestions/recommendations?

I like your idea, to create your own clay body to suit your need for a higher firing temp. Do you prepare it for throwing by slaking it or resting it? I usually like the clay more after wedging it then letting it rest for a couple days.
