As we go into 1944, we see the allies land at Normandy, liberate France and face Germany in their last major counteroffensive at the Battle of the Bulge. On the Eastern Front, the Soviets end Siege of Leningrad and begin to push through Poland and Romania. In the south, Allies land in southern France and take Rome.

Canada is always forgotten when mentioning World War 2 even though more Canadian troops died during the war then American troops.

+Philip more than 40% of the male population in Canada served in WW2. With D-day, 10% of the troops that fought for the Allies were Canadian.

Canada! Im a very proud grandson, and great grandson, of high ranking British soldiers and comanders, but please dont leave out Canadian efforts, especially on D day, i know this is a quick gloss over, but Canada's contribution is not to be overlooked, thank you so much for these videos, they are very important to me.

To clarify the V1 is something called a cruise missile, where it uses wings to carry it to a target. It was also propelled by a pulse jet which is a very simple type of air breathing engine, so not really a rocket. It is quite correct to call the V2 a rocket, however in military terms it is better called a ballistic missile.

Saying Rome was "liberated" is inaccurate. Italy was a part of the Axis...

***** Italy quit the war after the invasion of Sicily in 1943 after that the Germans occupied Italy. So yes Rome was in fact liberated.

In my opinion when Germany expanded in all directions, in the first sight it is very energizing and creates a sense of strength, power and victory. But if you consider it in more detail way, when you expand in all directions it would be hard for you to defend all the territory that now belong to you. Enemy comes from everywhere and you have to participate in multiple battles in multiple areas and lands simultanously. It is really difficult for you. Now you can't concentrate all your power in one feild. 😮

V-1s were not rockets, they were unmanned jet bombs flying on a fairly low path, and could be intercepted like other aircraft. V-2s were rockets, launched on a ballistic trajectory, and could not be intercepted by existing aircraft.

V-1 was technically not a rocket, but a missile.

Asim Deyaf It didn't use a rocket engine. V-2 did.

Can't help but clench my teeth when someone who teaches history calls Soviets "Russians". Not the same thing (not even close) and completely historically incorrect.
