History is important because it helps us to understand the world, and how it became what we see today. It can help us to solve problems that we face today by seeing the solutions that were tried in the past. We must learn from mistakes that were made before us, so that we do not repeat them.

It's an interesting coincidence that Woodrow Wilson's initials are W.W. as in World War.

Of course they had advanced knowledge. Everyone had it. It's on a timetable. On the date of the medallion: U-boots often followed ships for quite some time. So maybe the chase had already started two days before.

I know it would be ironic for khan because he is somewhat pushing against the classroom - teacher situation, but he would be an epically awesome teacher.

That first quote from William Jennings Bryan eerily foreshadows the even more ironic prediction by Marshal Ferdinand Foch. Who, after the Treaty of Versailles was signed, said "This is not a peace. It is an armistice for twenty years." He was off by 65 days.

There's an important feature of the delay of the American entry into the war. Neutrality was not so much a desire for peace, but an indecision as to which side to join. At this time in our history, our culture looked at war somewhat romantically. There was a huge German American population but it did not prevail in the debate as to which side to be on because of one man: George Creel. This is important because it shows that historically we are less and less interested in war.

Anorexics aren't trying to fight a war. 1000 calories + hard work = very difficult!

1000 calories is actually not that little... comparing to the anorexics whose calorie intake approximates 400-500 calories. just saying...

It is well below maintenance level for most men, especially if you are active. Any diet which results in a consistent caloric deficit will impact more than just fat/muscle loss, and as such it is certainly suboptimal to be in it during a time of war.
