Well some new old stock parts showed up for the 1947 Chrysler New Yorker! Lets rebuild the Brake Master Cylinder and Inspect the brakes by removing the brake drums... without the special tool.....
I would go ahead and replace all the brake lines. I replaced a master cylinder and wheel cylinders, only to blow out a rubber hose on the Interstate. Fixed that, and blew out a hard line that was rusted along the top of the frame rail where I couldn't see. At least my emergency brake got it stopped without too much trouble.
Go ahead and replace all the lines while you are there, I missed the line on top of the frame rail by the master when I did my 48 and it became the weakest link when I was pulling up to a busy intersection. That foot on the floor feeling gives you major pucker factor.
That was probably the least boring brake job that I've ever seen. I normally nod off somewhere in the middle... So. 76 year old car and you can just buy new old parts with a click of the fingers? That does not happen in the UK. The best you'll get is used stuff from an autojumble and be marginally better off than you were. However. Riveting the brake drum to the hub? Were you expected to junk the car before the shoes wore out? Bloody madness! Fabulous car, though. Soldier on. 🇬🇧👍
every time i save a car i just know brakes are never just one thing.. fix this , that pops, fix that this leaks. oh nothings in stock? sweet!@@billdyke9745
