That three point hitch setup was sold by Tractor supply company back in the 1990"s for Farmall tractors that I was going to install on my super A but bought another 9N tractor that already had it. Very nice tractor you got their. Thanks for the video.

Those cold weather shutters are a very nice option to have. I don’t think I’ve seen many with them but then again I really haven’t paid that close attention. That’s kinda funny about the alternator being excited w/o having the wire hooked up. Never seen that before but it works so whatever. Very nice looking tractor, what a beauty!

Great instruction on the installation of the 12 volt alternator on your Super C. It looks like the tongue on your garbage trailer is bouncing as you operate the 3-point arms.

Good eye. I had a cracked frame support on my cart and got it welded back up. Thanks.

That "hook" is called a Pintle hook system. We use it on our military equipment, speeds up the hitching process. Some larger trailers use it too. The other "ring" part is called a lunette ring I believe. Could use some help with our Fordson F. Love the video!

Pintle hook system, interesting. Thanks! What's up with the F?

For the temperature sensor location it’s because the A is a thermosiphon system. You want to watch the temperature going back into the engine to make sure the radiator is cooling. The outlet top will always be about the same. At least that’s what I’ve been told by old ih mechanics.

The excitation terminal is supposed to be only momentary

You have a non-pressurized cooling system and the temp gauge is on the inlet side of the radiator so it would be the coolest temp as the water goes into the engine. The manual calls for gauge number 53617DC for your system and your thermostat should range between 165 and 195 degrees F for gas engines. I don't know what the range is on the right gauge should be/water temp to operating range on the gauge.

Thanks for the information. The new water temp gauge I purchased is a 53619DC (same thing?). It's supposed to be a replacement for the Super A? ... but it is still slow for the needle to register. The important thing is that the cooling system is working.

I thought when you did a 6 to 12 volt conversion you needed to change the amp meter to a volt meter.
@AntiqueCarsandStuff
@AntiqueCarsandStuff Год назад
No, you can use either one depending on if you’d rather read volts or amps. It’s just personal preference.

There could be a hydraulic temp gauge add, thermosiphonic coolant temp. Any thoughts of adding wheel weights? How was the steering fluid condition?

Looking good!! This video has inspired me to go investigate about a Super A that showed up down the road a bit at someones house this summer. They haven't moved it. Yard is very small not sure what the deal is?

Do you need to convert the starter to twelve volt as well? Does the twelve volt battery etc. spin the bendix in the starter too fast against the flywheel teeth? I have heard that can happen when converting to twelve volts.
@AntiqueCarsandStuff
@AntiqueCarsandStuff Год назад
This is a topic of debate so I can just give you my opinion; I have used 12v batteries with 6v starters on various tractors and cars for many years with no issues. Yes, they do spin and engage faster. If the bendix or flywheel teeth are already worn, you might cause further damage to the teeth with the 12v/6v combo and have problems. But, if the teeth are all good, it shouldn’t be a problem at all. I have talked with folks that have done this for 30 years with no issues. Is there a risk? Sure, but with good teeth and a healthy starter I believe this risk is small. That’s my opinion. Thanks for watching.

My father in law has a Super AV. We are trying to find a drawbar for it. I'm wondering if the 3 point conversion might be an option? Thanks for posting.

You're welcome. Thanks for watching. Yes, it just depends on what you plan to use it for I guess. I love the 3 point hitch on mine.

Very nice 3pts hitch conversion you have there. Can you tell what is the length of the lift arms and the offset of the fwd and aft of its pivot balls? TKS

When you paint your rad cap, can you also paint that modern Alternator with multiply coats so it at least attempts to blend with the grace this beautiful old girl presents. The old generator was a beautiful pearl neckless, you have taken the pearls away and placed plastic costume beads upon her. She deserves the respect you are able to give her. Really enjoy your channel, just when I see this type of "upgrade" without consideration of everything this machine has given us for decades, I question WHY such disrespect?

Brian, it is also important to be respectful to each other, even when we have disagreements.
