I know you've always done it for years with no problems, but those tractors can tip over backwards in literally less than a second if the log gets hung up on a rock or a stump. I would put as much weight on the front as it can handle. It just might give you enough time to jump off. I survived a rollback of a lawn tractor on a slope only because I pushed off with my legs when the seat hit the ground. I still got badly bruised. I also know a neighbor who nearly lost his life skidding logs with a Farmall. I would also strongly consider an add-on roll bar.
Thank you for the suggestions, but I think you might have missed the point of the video. When you suggest jumping off the tractor it makes any of your other suggestions less credible as well. Another video I am pretty sure you will enjoy is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8tFKiMG8xNs.html
Towing logs backwards? I understand you are trying to avoid lodging on a rock and coming to a stop but by doing this the taper of the log actually creates more drag as the log "wedges". It is a very poor practice that is not done by anyone that does this professionally.
@@dryrockstudios3231 Jumping off is always a last resort and only if you aren't using a seat belt and roll bar. And a rollover or back happens in less than a second so you probably wouldn't have time to jump even if you wanted to. I know from experience. My garden tractor had neither.
I never owned my Dad's place, the rest of his surviving family would not let that happen, instead opting for a quick dollar. If I had owned my Dad's it never would have been clear cut, but instead something would have been done with it to show him respect and honour him

I’m so sorry that happened to you. It’s really sad that they would decimate that beautiful forest they your father kept up for so many years. My goodness.
