Awesome stuff Bud! I know this video is all about the truck but man, I couldn't take my eyes off of that JD 110 garden tractor in the background. I'm assume when Jubal is all put back together, he'll haul that old tractor around?

That’s my brother’s, I think he is planning on selling it after it’s running lol

@@redclaytraveler1949 I just bought a brass tag 110 and a '65 112 to take tk shows in the back of my '56 Willys. Can't wait for warm weather to get the truck out! Anyway, excellent installment!

Good call on the motor in the 2-wheel drive, I was honestly always assuming that's where the motor would go before you started talking v-6. It would also be easier to sell...gasp...if it's running. Can't keep 'em all, you end up with a lot of money rusting away in the yard. Spring is coming, someone will be looking for a sick truck to drive!

Oh no I’m not selling it. Certainly not with Jubals engine. I’m really looking forward to driving it. Putting this engine in it will make it a lot easier to work on and move around and if I want to swap engines later I always can

The rooster is on meth, The pineal gland goal setting is epic, the j.d. 110 in the background is as old as me. I worked with a Vietnam vet who had more stories about the post pet monkey than anything else. I buy 4 cases of brake cleaner at a time for my shop at work. ( non-chlorinated) It is more " ekologikly" sound than solvent. Peace, RedClay.

That’s a very real possibility on the rooster lol I want to buy a drum of brake cleaner but I’m not RU-vid famous enough for that just yet lol

Main caps torque to 80 to 110 ft lbs. I'd probably go 80 to 90. 110 may be crazy. Also I bath in gas so I'm guilty but watch the chemicals on your hands. Especially benzene. The Chen's soak thru your skin quickly. My mom and brother both died from leukemia. Mom exposed to printing ink vapor and with my brother he was forest engineer and we have no clue. But benzene is a known cause.

I know but I just don’t think much of it. Everything is poison these days. I should be more careful but we are exposed nearly 24 hrs a day in the modern world

Also the only way I know to get that oil pan gasket is a full fel pro set. The only gasket that isn't in the kit is under that hex plug for the oil pressure relief valve and spring. On that I thought about a cap gasket from the plumbing section of the hardware store but I haven't tried that. They are similar
@redclaytraveler1949
@redclaytraveler1949 Год назад
I have two good gaskets for the oil pan and now I’m waiting on the gasket for the oil pickup because it was left out of the package. The oil gears that were in my cover look fine and I’m confused about how to set the depth because the gears in my go in and bottom out in the cover. They free turn when you turn the shaft but I’m probably just overthinking it because I haven’t gotten to put it together
@johndoe43
@johndoe43 Год назад
@@redclaytraveler1949 ok they should bottom in the cover being the top of the gears. It's how far the stick out of the cover that matters. I would measure the depth of the cavity of both covers and as I said before measure the length of both sets of gears. This will tell you what your starting with. We may get lucky and all be the same. As before don't hesitate to message or call me. I'm retired so if I'm awake I will answer. I put some specs in my wallet as I was sure you would contact me when at the shop 50 miles away. Right now I have the book at my house not the shop and I'm home now. With that sludge I'm worried. I would be tempted to do a full tear down clean and inspect. I'm doing a 232 now that was clean but has slight bearing damage. I'm replacing everything but piston rods crank and valvetrain. All wear areas plus valve job. Probably 2 grand or more. We will see

@@redclaytraveler1949 interesting they say the filter will be at the factory angle. That's fairly new probably due to demand. And where did you get oil pan gaskets?
@redclaytraveler1949
@redclaytraveler1949 Год назад
I bought one from eBay and the other from ta performance. The eBay is a Napa one and looks identical to the other

I’m not seeing anything in my engine to panic over. Mild scratches on the cylinder walls that I can see but that’s fairly normal, especially for old engines. It ran fine, had great oil pressure and had no knocks that I could hear. I certainly don’t have the money for a more in-depth rebuild and I don’t see it being necessary on this one. I’m the future when I have the money and if I’m having trouble I’ll rebuild it then. I’m probably going to end up calling you at some point but I’m working through it slowly and learning a lot

Hey now. I'm a huge supporter of al gore. I support that he and the whole lot of the green new deal crowd move to another country. I'm a conservation nut and I care about the environment but after hearing 3 major scientists explain what is really happening I now say their climate farse doesn't hold water. Reducing pollution good. Jumping off a cliff as they are not good. The sky is not falling. Btw a regular paint spray gun works great for a parts sprayer. I've sprayed used motor oil many times and other solvents. No problem. Friend of mines dad survived the chosin res in Korea. He took a bullet in the butt but I don't think he knew it till latter. I'll check with him and get the right story. The cold there was crazy with that equipment. Minus 50. My brother did minus 70 on the attic ocean and my record was minus 23 for one week here in KC. That was enough for me

I agree completely and I’m not a fan of super cold either lol The things so men went through is unbelievable to say the least.
