Great job on filter head and oil pump. Loved how you explained what you were doing and why. Love seeing these old tractors getting a second lease on life.

I like these videos of y'all working on these old tractors. There was a guy (oneminutefarming) over in the UK who completely restored a B. His video was instrumental in the rebuild of my 1940 B. He didn't leave out anything. These kinds of videos really help folks out.

Love the 2 cylinder videos. I’ve got a 37 long frame B that my dad and grandpa bought in 1960. It still pulls a disk every year to plant deer food plots. It smokes a little on idle when hot. It may need the valve guides done, but still pulls good.

Good idea with zip tie ,I unhooked the right rod and tied up with twine and set filter head in and gently put bolts in but I was by myself, thanks for sharing

Excellent video Brandon :) & Dads Strength :) to also nice see that oil pump installed and you had parts from a part tractor had one ready for you both fix another tractor too!

So the tool I made used a thicker rod and the fingers at the top were shorter. Once I have it hooked I slide a pipe over it so they can't come out, stick a hammer through the bottom, and give it a wack with the handle. Hard to explain so I have a video of it. I like your idea of wiggling it out. Getting to the oil head is a real bear in the later styled tractors. Not so bad in the earlier ones where it was in the back of the crankcase. It's easy to lose the spring inside also and that's something I always have to watch out for. Great video.

so do you know if the J.D. A the J.D. 60 & the J.D 630 all use the same (2 piece head ) spring loaded oil filter canister stud and ect. As I have to find a salvage yard to take one out or buy a scrap J.D with the engine out like they borrowed one from, they just never said if they knew if there all the same size from those three tractors, as I have a 620 (it's stud) I tried to tighten up up just turns and turns and turns I might of even damaged the round part where the end cap goes on trying to force it crooked so it would stop spinning and getting no where when trying to get the end cap off

@janbill79 call Lind Brothers. They'll get you the parts you need with no fuss. You definitely will need the cap that the rod threads into. Someone over tightened it and stripped out the threads in the head.

one bit of advice i never take the oring seal out for a normal oil change if its not leaking and looks ok i just drain the oil change the filter and go most of them get broke because the filter doesnt seal and they think tighten more and they break

@@dirtgrainsteel I'm pretty sure mine has a hole in the bottom of the block. Any videos replacing that piece? I'm curious if I can do it without splitting the tractor.
@dirtgrainsteel

Hello, I'm from Brazil, could you help me with a doubt about the oil rings of the model A 1944 that I'm recovering... is it normal for the oil ring to come out halfway out of the cylinder at the lowest point of the piston or is it with connecting rods or pistons wrong ... thank you if you can help me ... your videos are helping me a lot

Hey man i have a 51 with the same problem, was wandering how you got that oil pump out without tearing the tractor down? Im wanting to get mine running but the oil filter cap is broken much like yours
@kennycriswell141
@kennycriswell141 2 года назад
Your comment about if it seeps a little oil its no big deal its in the crankcase anyways. Thats not true because if it leaks youll lose oil pressure and itll starve your motor for oil. Im rebuilding a old A now that someone replaced the oil filter head on without pulling it from tractor. I found the gasket pushed out tractor was starved for oil and ran till eventually it started knocking. They ruined the rod bearings and damaged the crank. All from that gasket leaking and starving the motor of oil. I know it sucks but best to pull the block and make sure its all seated right and make sure your gasket doesn't move on you.
@dirtgrainsteel

I didnt mean like a full blow seep just kinda of a dust collecting seep if it were out side in the dust them gaskets all looked to be in real good shape and stayed in place so I just re used them
