1950 AEC Matador - TRUCKSTOP TV 

Compared to a 1949 Bristol L5G, the AEC is like driving an automatic, and that extract is from the memoirs of an Ex Bus driver who drove for North Western Road Car Company in the early 60,s. The wagon as you stated ,a very rare ,a bonneted AEC of which i mistook for a Majestic a similar model made by AEC in Southhalll in the late 1930,s.

My Dad drove it for years carting rolled steel, steel pickets, powdered milk, case backhoes and other general stuff between newcastle and Sydney...Hard on the driver, compared with todays gear.

I f I had this truck and loved driving it I would have the Fuel injection pump and injectors repaired / renewed or calibrated instead of polluting the countryside...plus you will get more MPG and less engine heat.

Lovely old thing but very crude to today's standards. AEC were the ones responsible for the iconic London red deckers you see on brochures promoting the city.
