I remember that 40 years ago in Darwin they were assembling Hino's and Dyna's at Theiss and Agserv. There were a lot of D6000's on the road at the time also.
Wow my step dad use to have the Toyota 6000 in the 70/80, we were then rich family until it got into unrepairable accident, Koindu in Kailahun district Sierra Leone by then was the places for this GOAT
Awesome video! Awesome trucks! I've heard of the KC Bedford truck, but I've never heard of the Toyota 6000 truck. For some reason, neither of them have been sold here in North America.
They were everywhere here in LATAM just in my city I can say they are at least 100 of them, they are the most reliable trucks I can think of, literally nothing can stop or kill them
Im yet to see one in Australia. My grandpa had a fleet of these D6000 back in the 80's. Dad would tell me stories of these rigs maxing out at 99km/h on redline. Go you good thing!
I went to live in Darwin in 1979 and D6000's were everywhere up there then. Pretty sure that Theiss in Darwin assembled them, as they were assembling Dyna's and Hino's when I lived there. They took up too much room on a ship, so they came in knock down form and Darwin was a close port and had a lot of mining.
Toyota usually have the most boring looking vehicles in any class of vehicle, but that D6000 is a very handsome old rig! By far and away the best looking truck to ever come out of Japan.
