This was a customer's Grandpa's 1950 Chevrolet 5 window truck. He wanted a no fuss daily driver. We used a Code 504 S10 frame swap kit to transplant the 1950 body onto a 2000 S10 while keeping the fuel injected 4.3 v6 and the 4l60e transmission. I used the S10 wiring harness and steering column and swapped in some Dakota Digital gauges. Overall it's a reliable and great driving vehicle.

What year s10 did you use?

Was it a direct bolt on or did you have to cut s10 frame

If you get the correct single cab long bed chassis you do not need to section the frame.

Looks like the wheelbase is too short as well as too narrow

Did the Dakota Gauges mate with the S10 wiring harness?

Some did and some didn't. You have to use Dakota digitals little proprietary control box. But ultimately you have to add their water temp sensor and maybe one or two more. It wasn't bad.

How long did it take you to build?

This was a customer's car and it took about 9 months. It could go faster but he wanted to keep the 4.3 and 4l60 and i wanted to keep the factory wiring harness and steering column for reliability. If you went with a 350/th350 it'd be much quicker.

@@buildsnburnouts6046 @ do u need spacers? At all wheels?? Is it too narrow the s10??
@buildsnburnouts6046
@buildsnburnouts6046 2 года назад
The s10 is too narrow front and back. You need to use spacers on all the wheels depending on your backspacing. You could also switch to a 4wd rear end which may eliminate the back wheel spacers.
