Great !!! I was born in 1949, these were the cars of my childhood. The first generation of small vans and delivery trucks after the war in Germany. There was a little cheese factory in my street. They had 3 Tempo Matador and 2 smaller Tempo Viking. As a young boy, I was often allowed to drive with them when they delivered their products to the shops. Once I was even allowed to drive from Kiel to Hamburg, if they picked up a brand new new Matador from the Tempo factory. I think it's great that such vehicles are from the 1950th Years so beautyfull reconstructed and saved. They are very rare.
Thats one gorgeous looking vehicle, I really do like that, colour, shape, styling. Sure ticks all the boxes for me, just a shame I can't afford to buy it. Now if money was no object, then... :-)
This strange vehicle has got a real doggy nose , but its a rare breed , not many were made , so the price is a bit , uh , high... but should I find that pot of gold in my garden , .... yippie !!!
That's a sweet thingie...Price on request, well he's not giving it away cheap then is he? Semifores, neat! A really nice machine and practical too. I like it!
I like it a LOT more now! Apparently the factory only ever made about 1500 and there is reportedly far less than a hundred left. Some other fellow was asking $110,000 US for his recently so that may be the going price for a fully restored Matador. Neat little work truck, can't afford to buy or use it in that condition and it probably would be worth too much to own in any condition!
MrComaToes I can buy a house overhere for that money , but if you've got enough cash , is this Matador a better investment than a Jaguar or Ferrari , if the same price ??
I understand why the price for that Matador was so high now, VW was selling engines to Tempo but when they started building buses the stopped selling the 25hp VW engines to them, as a consequence there was actually less than 1500 VW powered Matadors ever made.
Personally, I don't care if a car is the greatest, machine ever built or my dream car for that matter, if it costs as much or more than a house... it's not worth it to me! BUT for the money that they are asking for that Matador there are literally THOUSANDS of autos I'd rather own... sure is cute though. In fact, for that kind of money, the Matador might be the LAST vehicle I would spend that money on!
