Come along as I see if this old truck has anything left in it to be able to drive again. Email: thisnthatgarage1@gmail.com Instagram: / thisnthatgarage1 TikTok: / thisnthatgarage Facebook: / thisnthatgarage
This made me laugh because of MLS, smile because of the memories it brought back and cry because Daddy would’ve loved this one 😀😀🥲 Thanks Nathan and Mike for helping out my brother!
That was the good thing about living in the back country here in SC. My 75 Fury ran outta gas and I could barely move it. 6 people actually pulled over and helped me out. Took all of them to get the car moving. Lol. I so appreciated their help, and they refused any money for their help. Good good people.
Thank you for this video.. My grandpaw gave one just like this when I was 17. He had put a 340 Buick motor in it. I started fixing it and our shop burned down with it inside. I cried like a baby...
Love seeing this old Chevy "come back to life", you have a classic there. Those tires and rims really do add class to your ol girl. Thanks for sharing - looking forward on what will be done.. Brad { lover of old trucks) frm Vernon B.C. Canada
Restore the flames! Great bones to start with, not too rusty and runs fine. Get ‘er done and drive it up here to Alaska and help me with my 50 plus classics. Good luck
Felt so bad about rolling through a 4-way stop that you turned around and tried it from a different direction! 😂 j/k, best of luck with this one. After watching you tear down a horse barn (almost completely by yourself), I have no doubt that you'll figure out the issues with this project. 😉 I wish you the best and look forward to more videos!
Good shape for sitting 26 years, can’t wait to see the old girl road worthy again. First time watching your channel and enjoying it from Columbus Ohio. Keep the video coming.
First time I've seen your channel but I thoroughly enjoyed watching you get the old girl up and running.. Brings back lots of memories of old stuff I had.. Will b looking for the next video on your truck.. Thx for taking us along for the ride.. Take care my friend..
Love the old truck. Acting like fuel issues. Had an old Jimmy 2500 that played the same game. Discovered a filter um the cab that I didn't know about. The truck was a 70 ..it had sat for many years before I had bought it. Missing it 22 yrs later. Good luck with your truck.
It’s a good thing you are not doing experimental airplanes. Love the old truck. Years ago I bought an all original 1954 that had never been touched with 62,000 miles. The guys brother bought it new and it ran drove perfectly. $1000 I paid for it in 1989. It was a five window. The guy I sold it to in Winston Salem did a refurbish-restoration and paint and sold it for $15,000. The park brakes were amazing in their build and through the frame levers.
When I was a young man I had a 66 impala ss with I think the same motor. From the factory it had 300 hp and came with a carter afb(aluminum four barrel) That is if it has double hump heads. Of course being young and crazy, I put a Holley 600 vacuum secondary and Black Jack headers. Lol I had a blast . Those bullet mufflers sounded so good. Great video my man, love the truck.
I love that truck - I love that truck - I love that truck!!!!! Chad, you just saying the words, "First thing I gotta do is get some fuel, she's runnin' on fumes," that ole girl was listening. I laughed and laughed out of appreciation that it's not just me with that kind of luck. Sir, I've watched through about half your videos so far, back to back to back and man they are enjoyable and I am learning so much. I appreciate you, your videos and your way of thinking. Just simple, don't waste nothing kind of attitude. Let's get those old buggies runnin' and show those youngsters that old don't mean dead! I look forward to the other half of your latest videos. You're a bright light in this somewhat dark lookin' world these days. Great Job Chad, I'm glad I found your videos.
I'd say you know ever bolt screw nut wire light.3ver thing about the old truck it's a dandy really like your videos need more good ol country people doing videos hope you do some more on this fine ol truck 👍👍👍👍
I wish I would have bought one of these old trucks when I was younger. I really like the flames and patina, some people don't get the patina look. Really like this one and the old 1965 C10 you got running a lot as well. Two of my favorite truck styles.
Putting on some graphic art violet& orange, campfire lookin flames, after a nice primer/black base coat would be sweet on that there truck sir. I helped alot of people, just had to jack up a neighbors car because he was stuck,so he could get to work..I have alot of stuff for in case of emergencies, helping people on the road, off the road,or in the snowbanks, ect
My Dad's father passed away suddenly in 48 and he had to take over the farm, His Uncle Ralph was asked by Granny to help Dad learn how to farm. Ralph had a truck like that green with a Ohoogha Horn that he could feather so he could call the cows in at night. He was funny as hell and stayed with for many years. He would stop by and ask how much rain we got and when Dad was going to cultivate the beans. I asked about his truck when i was 14 but he said his grandson had already asked for it. It was a great old truck. My other granddad had a 47 Ford Flathead V8 but my other Uncle took it. I always thought a good old truck would a great weekend cruise and hauler. This is a nice one to clean up. Old 327 is a great motor too. Have fun. Dennis in Virginia
I love your channel. Your humor and knowledge and old school charm is heart warming. I would love to sit down and share a beer with you. Thanks for sharing your stories with us. God bless you
Makes really wanna start getting out there and picking up more project cars. Theres a lot of old vintage cars and tractors where I live just sitting out in fields or by old barns; just need some love.
I have rode a many a mile in a truck like this. My Uncle bought his new from a Chevrolet Dealer in Charleston Mississippi in 1952. When he died it was sold out of the family and I've never seen it again. I would love to have another to put back on the road. My hat is of to you sir. Hope you can get it back to a dayley driver.
Does she run as good and reliably as you remember it back in high school? I'm not surprised how well it started. It is a small block Chevy after all. Seems you can beat them hard and put them away wet and they still want to run. 5psi of oil and it'll drive all day.
@@ThisNThatGarage I hate it when I see amateurs who spray starting gas or gasoline into the intake it is a sure engine killer professionals find out what the problem is why a car can't start without extra help 🙂
Man oh Man what an awesome truck this is ... .I love these old ones.. reminds me of the old days where you could buy something like this from the Men's Section, not these new Unisex trucks they make now...
Man this truck is just perfect the way it is !! The ate lunch and watched tge whole video. We both enjoyed it !!, Thanks I'll be watching 👀. Make inspired to go out and work on my ol 56 chevy again . Thanks!
Man this almost reminds me of Sanfoed & Son. And you have a working dash, can't be a Dodge 🙂You must have great memories, working on this car with your dad.
Just found your Channel! Loved this episode of the adventures in Daddy's 53 Chevy truck! I'm a Ford guy, but love these old trucks, and many old Classics!
I once had to choose between a tree and a telephone pole as I was approaching a stop sign leading to main street in my hometown in KY. I chose the tree.
I like the Advance Design trucks waaay better than the newer Task Force models .. and that stinky old gas tank may need some of that fuel tank sealer/liner ( it coats the inside of the fuel cell ) 😇❤️
My dream, or one of them, is to build a 3100 Hot Rod Truck. I can't make up my mind to go full Custom or Rat Rod. This one in the video would make a damn nice Rat Rod. A little TLC and she will be show ready. Maybe some power steering and power brakes.
Well, now I know why your voice sounds so familiar. I saw that Montgomery County plate, lol. I'm originally from Henry County on the other side of the lake from Stewart County, so your voice sounds like a lot of my kinfolks. I've lived up here in Southern Indiana for a good number of years and been inside all evening cause it come up a bad cloud earlier and then poured down most of this evening...it was a frog strangler! So I just run across this channel on YT this evening and been watchin' the last few hours.
Love your show. One of the best. You are giving. VGG a run for the money. Love the old school work. Use what you got is right. Keep up the great videos.
You had me cringing the whole drive. I've been thru every bit of that in my 56 F100. Loose coil +wire had me stalling. A bad ignition switch (only starter circuit ran).. I've pushed to safety over 20 times.. yup, most people SUCK😕
My sister and I use to drive a 52 and pull a horse trailer till we finally told Dad we're going to get hit some night from a Rodeo trying to get up the hills that old truck ran for years after that. A buddy's Dad had one like it and he put a 292 6 out of a school bus in it that thing would fly.
I'm a new subscriber and thought I'd gave you a idea. It will take a while to do but you will save the flames... use soapy water and XXXX steel wool. It cut real fine so that when it cuts through the primer you move to the next area.
Well partner I have just discover your channel and I am loving every minute of it I am in North Georgia I go by North Georgia Mike I will be watching your videos as they go thanks for the entertainment your friend and biggest fan now North Georgia "MIKE"
The timings advanced a bit. And yeah it had a miss. But Yeah I can hear it. Then yeah found the lose plug lol ha ha yeah typical gm can run on one cylinder damn near if ya had too! Holly four barrel 600 or so maybe?! 350 Chevy small block from mid 70’s. Nice video and love your stuff man! Keep it up!
I know this is an older video, but it came up on my RU-vid feed today. I appreciate someone who wrenches on old cars. I grew up in the industry and I can relate. And although I have watched several of your videos in the past, I never put things together - but with the license plate, and the Rte 24 sign on a route in Montgomery County after you broke down - - were you on 41 south of Sango? I ask because I'm in Hopkinsville and that's one of our back routes from Nashville to get home when Rte 24 gets jacked up, or we just want a ride in the country instead of the Interstate 😎 Nice to have local content. Now there's you, SleeperDude and Derek on VGG (although he tends to like those silly contests in FL more than wrenching on cars these days). Please keep up the good work!
Yep that would be 41A. I've had a few locals recognize the roads. Keep it a secret tho because I don't need crazy people roaming around my place. 😂 Preshate you watching!
I know all about the brake issue. I took my ‘55 out for a run after sitting a few years and nearly smacked a car in the rear in the middle of town. Needless to say new brakes where the number 1 item on the list. I bought a new gas tank for mine as well. They’re not that expensive these days.
Hey there I am a huge RU-vidr RU-vid subscriber I love all old classic cars trucks and motorcycles so I subscribe to your channel when I came across it cool things and ideas you have
@@ThisNThatGarage Your truck your choice. I'd put a straight 6 back in it which shows how little I know... I like mpg in double figures... Keep well, sir. Enjoying the channel.
