This cine footage of the coronation procession of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 was taken from the fourth floor of the fashion store, Jays of Regent Street where my mother had an account!
A comparison to the imminent coronation of her son, King Charles III.
My father filmed the procession on his Bell & Howell cine camera. It rained most of the day.
The streets of London were lined ten deep by the eleven million people who lined the route.
The 4ton gold Stage Carriage was drown by eight Windsor grey horses. The procession was over one and a half miles long and took over three hours to pass.
The quality of the film has deteriorated as it passed from 8mm cine film, video tape, CO, DVD and finally computer file.
