There is a release lever inside the driver's door for the spare tire swing arm.

Some minor things: 1) The truck you have is a later model truck (door mounted spare tire carrier) so it may have seen action in Vietnam 2) The engine is a T-245, not a T-230, the T-245 is the industrial version of the T-230

The circular markings on the side is the symbol for the Army Medical Service, the stretchers or Litters are not originals the originals would have been able to fold at the head and foot ends.

Jeeps weren’t built till the early 1940’s. Willys overland won the contract. When production began in the beginning of world war 2, the government went to ford and wanted them to produce the Jeep under the Willy’s design. Ford then produced the GPW and not the Willys MB. Ford also put there name on every part, and even on the heads of bolts, they put the ford script F. Reason for that was if there was a part failure, they would know if it was a ford part or a Willys part. There were some other differences between the 2 vehicles. Willys had a square front cross member in the front of the frame and ford had a round cross member. The ambulance in the video is a M-43B1, hence the spare tire carrier on the drivers side door.
