1953 JEEP CJ3B WALK-AROUND and Future Plans for the JEEP!

Last week I picked up this 1953 Jeep CJ3B (first model year!) “high-hood” and I couldn’t be more excited! I’ve been looking for a flat-fender at a fair price for a LONG time and finally found one. You see, living in the NE, a good frame with no rusted out crossmembers and a half-decent body is hard to come by. This is FAR from perfect but it is a good platform for a new project here on the channel! It’s been modified with the V8 but enough original pieces are left to turn it back into what it used to be; a cool some-what original flattie with a big secret under the hood! 🤫
Come along as I show you around my new addition to my “fleet” of Jeeps (I cant believe I have a SECOND one now!) and discuss the plans that I have for it! Enjoy!

It's not uncommon to re-drill a bellhousing to fit the bolt pattern of a transmission. If you have the skills and tools and are able to keep everything on center it works great and can save you lots of money. An adapter for that would be $300-$500.

I think you could use newer 15" wheels from a 73 and newer. Looks cool! :-)

Hello, I have read your thread on the `65 on ecj5. I have a `61 cj3b, yours should have a 44 rear and 25 front. No model 41 in a CJ after early 2a (late 46- early 47 I think) and no 27 until `62 or 3. I think I have the adapter plate you are looking for, gm to t90. I run 11" drums on mine with 32x10.50 r15 swampers with excellent results. Your factory gear ratio would have been 5.38 but as you know that could have been changed. Thanks for watching, and I really enjoy Brian's videos! Thanks for the great info. After looking into it, I'll probably ditch the T90 and look for an SM420 or SM465 4-speed to gain that extra gear, and it "should" bolt up to the SBC!

Did you say it’s a t-90 going into a chevy 350? No kidding... everyone keeps telling me the 90 wouldn’t work with a v8... looks like it does to me.

It sure is! It’s not done super well but a SBC will bolt up to a T90. This is a T90A to be exact 👍🏻 Advance Adapters sells bellhousing adapters to go from a SBC to a T90.
