I put this in the show at the Silverado campout but I wanted to put a separate video just showing this car because it is so unique with all the originality and every available accessory. This was a showroom car for the dealer that sat in the showroom unitl a few years ago when the dealer decided to sell it to BOB. Something this original is almost never seen anywhere. Never do you see original door rubber from 1953. amazing car and never seen anything like it.
There is one option that's probably never seen in in this part of the world a propane heater it mounted in the passenger side in the floor panel usually seen in Germany
8:00: those two mounted stopwatches on the right look like a professional rally co-driver set from the 1950's; very rare! They are Heuer stopwatches, and most rallyists used Heuers exclusively before electronic timing came to be. I still have a Heuer rally stopwatch in 100ths of a minute rather than seconds (like the watch on the right does). Those 2 Swiss timepieces alone are easily worth $1000.
Another great video, Mike! Very informative as usual. I always learn something. Finally got my '61 panel back on the road. Already put 1,240 miles on her! Man, l missed this bus!
The switch under the dash near the column is on off switch for interior light. Pulley should be a thin edge and yes the running boards should not be ribbed to the end, there is a flat rubber to the fender. Chris Vallone explains the unique 53 features well. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fWULRM7wbww.html
Yea I think the dealer changed the mats because one side was in the sun. I guess the pully was changed too during service when they did a tune up. Probably the pully had no mark on it. Some years and or models didn't have Timing marks.
those are dealer accessories that you could buy when you bought your car. Stuff for dealers to upsell. Most people didnt buy them so many have never been seen. VW owners were cheap. those were expensive add ons.
Greetings from far away Rancho Cucamonga Mike! Do you think the dealer accessories like the horn ring and e-brake handle were painted white so that they stood out?
It all looks correct to me, headlights have VW logos in the top flutes, correct 25 hp fuel pump, not sure about pulley, my 56 has a two fuse wiring cover but I have seen factory covers like this one. What else do think is incorrect
