I worked on a Smiths speedo with my bugeye Sprite years ago. Ended up at that speedo shop up near UCR. That was in the 80’s all I needed was a calibration because I changed tranny and wheels. I learned not or touch the face as the paint was like a powder and every little thing made a mark. 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Great Video Mike! I will have to get my speedo out and do a little rebuild to it also. Have a ton of stuff ordered for my bus, just waiting on shipping. Hopefully Ill get more videos out soon! Cheers Mike!
Btw you have 4K more subscribers than VW Darin. You post way more videos than he does. He is my go to engine channel. You are my hero for body and paint.
Here’s how you fix your neighbors dogs. And I did this myself. Because my neighbors, after several of my complaints did nothing. And I just don’t understand that. What makes them think that we want to hear their dogs barking all the time. It’s like pulling up to someone at a stop sign or stop light and having to listen to their music as loud as they can play it. I just don’t understand it. It’s not civil. So… I run myself a length of pressure hose. To the backyard next to the fence where the dogs were. I bought a dog whistle, and fixed it to the pressure hose. On the other end of the pressure hose I had a small regulator. That I could dial about two or 3 pounds into. Whatever the dogs ears were most sensitive to. I tried several different settings. I finally got their attention. When I came outside and they started to bark I turned the valve on. Waited a little while until they stopped. And then shut it off. Now this can go different ways. The dog might start howling more, or they will be quiet. Use that to whatever advantage. And you can train them. Where eventually when they hear you outside or whatever they will be quiet because they have been trained that you will whistle at them. It seriously works. And Wonderful job on the speedometer!
I love bringing old stuff back to life and Mustie 1 says all the time. I wish we were so easy to bring back to life. Going to get a can of the Free All and try it out. I hope it smells better than that other PB blaster penetrant. That alone will make it worth it
Nicely done sir! The biggest thing here to keep in mind is you need to NOT be in a hurry and have patience when doing this, otherwise it's not too hard to do. If anyone needs a similar video for beetle speedos we have them on our channel.
Is that stock background music? Sweet sound of a lawn being mowed. I was almost falling asleep. And Thank You for posting this. It's grand alchemy to fix that thing.
Hey Mike, Kevin here from Australia. Very interesting video i have an old bug speedo im going to clean now. Q. Next time you do one of these i think you'd probably find it easier if you had a longer screw driver. 🤪 Stay safe and healthy man. ✌ Peace.
Thanks so much for your video's. I have a 1967 deluxe bus would you advise to remove the tray under the dash to make it easier to remove the speedo. Thanks again for all your help.
