In this video we attempt to bring an ABANDONED BARN FIND 1957 Ford Thunderbird back to life after its 60 year slumber. What could go wrong?? Plenty... Check it out!!! #abandoned #barnfind #willitrun #thunderbird #ford #forgotten
First of all I'd like to give my condolences to you of your father's passing and I pray that you will find comfort and peace even with this gem that was once your fathers.. I have never been a big fan of fords even though my first car was a 1970 mercury cyclone gt that I bought in 74 for $450. The rest of my car's were mostly Chevy's after that, however this is a priceless gem that I've never even heard of in my 64 years of loving these old classics. I really hope to see more of it and any progress you've make on it..
I have owned 12 55, 56, 57 Thunderbirds. Yes, all at once. Was a project of my fathers and mine. I think I have wrenched every single nut and bolt on the first gen. It is worth restoring, if possible, just from a historical standpoint. As always, the story is worth keeping as well. In stock form, they are pretty...well interesting to drive( difficult ) especially if you are not small enough to get your legs under the steering wheel. If anyone else has driven one you know what I mean. Good luck on the project fella. It's a diamond in the rough.
Enjoyed the video! I have the same thing going on. I have a 57 Thunderbird that has been sitting since 1966. It was my uncles who left it to my dad and other uncle when he passed. They are all gone now and I have the car. I’m rebuilding the 4160 Holley right now and hope to start the car up in the next few months. Good luck with your project!
I have a '56 with the 312 and 4 barrel with 3 speed fordomatic transmission Happily I changed out the carb for a newer holley squarebore as the original 4000 teapot was crap Runs great now with everything new underneath but it drove like a waterbed, swaybars front and rear with beefed up rear leaf springs makes it nice The continental spare is a PITA so a full spare and hydraulic jack in the trunk Going to cut the floor pan and add a tire well for more room Fun to drive everyone loves it Getting 15-17 mpg and she only likes the high octane Check the valvetrain as known to plug up. Gotta run zinc oil for solid lifters and put in electric fan for summer traffic Good luck with yours!! Nice when I see another on the road 👌!!
Thank you and thanks for watching! Excited to get back on this project and also get some more content out here soon. I will take all of that into consideration.
