I remember my father telling us kids to watch the odometer in our '50 Desoto as it went to 100k sometime back in the mid 50's. That was a big deal back then, most cars were done at 75'000.
Pontiac even advertised it’s 1951 cars as “built to last 100,000 miles.“ Part of the reason why cars did not last as long back then was because motor oil was not nearly as refined back then as it is today.
That happened to me to one car I owned. It stayed firm exactly like yours. Never turned farther. After weeks the zeroes came up nearly completely. And that was it. My 63 Belair has around 160000 km wich is approximately the same. Thanks for you small updates.

1959 I'm thinking maybe 200,000 Dan or even maybe 300,000 by the looks of your '59. You should have pulled over and stuck a sign in the ground marking the spot. lol

all the old gm cars i had you had to drive them about 10 miles to get the odometer to turn all the way around! that is a kool car. i like it better with the disk wheals
Four door cars are underrated. But if you must abominate a four-door 1959 GM car into a two door, at least (pretty please) do it with one of the “slope top” 4 door cars, not one of the 4 door “flat tops.”
