1959 Marlette Las Vegas model. I've had this for years. Up until I bought it, it spent it's whole life on Lake Greenwood, SC, owned by the same family for 50+ years and used seasonally. It was purchased new in Greenville, SC Dealership. It is the Aluminum skin model and very original. Check out my other videos for more vintage mobile homes, houses and cars

I purchased one of those in 1987 when I knew I was returning to graduate school, and hence would be poor for two years. I sold it the month I graduated in 1989. Yes, it was crude by today's standards but it's from 1959! For a poor kid who really wanted to get thru college no matter what, the Marlette was a faithful buddy. It gave me little rooms, heater, fridge and a roof when I needed it. I always felt very cozy there. From time to time I find myself still giggling over the thought of my 1959 mobile home. They served their purpose in history. BTW, the thought and careful design that went into these was very impressive. I only began to notice how thoughtful was the design as I began to live there. I constantly noticed how the engineers had anticipated my needs. Quality craftsmanship in 300 sq feet.

Thanks for the comment. I am an engineer and I completely agree. There was so much ingenuity designed into these, mostly around weight savings.

I bought a trailer at a lake in Michigan three years ago, but the previous owner had no idea of the year or anything else (transaction via bill of sale). I had been searching for the make and year to no avail. Then I came across this video. This is nearly identical to mine. Mine had some water damage and had some of the wood replaced. Some of the other original elements are gone, like the fridge and the heater, but the layout is identical. It even has that funky white & gold paneling in the bathroom. I live in it in the summer. Mine could be a year or two newer or older, but I'll just go with 1959, because that was the year I was born!

I live in a 1967 Melody homes trailer. 2 bedroom I bought when I graduated high school in 1980. I paid $1000 for it😁 12'×48'. If you do the up keep they last. If your lazy they fall apart.

I wish they still made those . That is one sweet little home. Who says new is better. You come to a point in your life , you just want less. I could see this set up on a lot . To increase living area , add a covered deck , put a little storage building at end of deck add porch rails, add underpinning to trailer . landscape with a white picket fence with roses growing. Maybe one of those old metal porch rockers with a removable cushion a couple pots of petunias on the deck. A small deck set and a mosquito killer. Home sweet Home.

Amazing that it has the original furniture. This little trailer was one of the first tiny houses, but large enough for a single person. If there is a storage building, a single person should have enough space, even a single person with a child, and parent sleeping on sofa.

At least someone had the common sense to cover it years ago. Every RV or trailer should come with a cover. It should be able to be rolled up easily on the sides when you use it so you’re not having to climb on top of it.

I can totally see myself living in this and enjoying life. This home has something in common with many, many American cars of the era... The forward slant of the front, which gives it an in motion appearance even though it's stationary. This looks like it's in remarkably great condition given its age.

Sadly due to damage it was remodeled years ago but still retains much of its original style and this girl is built like a old wooden ship we were amazed at the craftsmanship and the hardy materials that were used also the center of the home has almost a 9 foot ceiling in kitchen/living room it blows people away when they first come inside. I find many people as they get older learn to love and admire objects from their youths. For awhile as a youth I owned a 1944 Teardrop, just love that thing. But beong young could not afford to restore it, so sold it to someone who could. Another great little camping trailer was the early 1960's Scooty Sportsmans, could easily hall it behind a car.

Nice. Sadly, most of these vintage trailerhomes have been used and abused and many have rusted away or been reincarnated as soup cans. I lived in a vintage trailer as a kid for a time.
