I'm impressed you got the doors off, I gave up and just cut those rusted hinges off. The bolts were rust-welded on. I'm going with external hinges like the new Jeeps Great work on the ole gal
Stick with your idea with a small block Chevy. 350 with a mechanical fuel pump and a carburetor it worked for 50 years buy a motor from a la-get out-fit / you get what you pay for / that's if your lucky /
As far as Chrysler vs chef do the Chevy just for the reason of part availability if you break down. Just about any wrecking yard or auto part store stocks has small block Chevy as oppose to Chrysler might be a little difficult.
Where are you located? I have a Willys project too and have a complete floor panel from the under seat boxes to the back without rust that I am not using. If you want it, let me know. I'm in WY. I still need to cut it out as I plan to graft in an 06 LJ floor to make updating much easier on my build.
