Passed my test in a 12/50 coupe, owned by the Cherry Tree, school of motoring Northwood, £1 an hour 6 lessons for £5 and £2 for the test plus a lesson. I've owned 3 Vitesse's and a Mk 2 GT6, great cars.

My first car was a triumph herald. Sadly i rolled it into a sprout field. This was due to lack of driving experience. The 4 of us were lucky to get out alive. Built like a tank.

Blew a core plug on a ‘66 Herald on the M1 near Crick, it was rusted out anyway so… i walked up the embankment and left it there, different times the ‘70s

I replaced the rusty wings on my MK1 Austin Mini 850, with a clam shaped one piece fibreglass Clubman front.. Thinking back to the 1970's if I had been involved in a RTA ,I wouldn't have stood a chance. The wings were held onto the door frame by rubber handles which hooked over metal attachments. When you leaned on the front, the wings would splay out were they met the steel body and spring off the rubber handles.

That looks like a very nice example, I had a 1200 delux way back in 1970 that was already 8 yrs old, far superior to the previous Ford 105E Anglia that I had. Plus excellent mpg and if you run out of petrol there is a reserve tap on the tank (left hand side in the boot) which will give you enough to get you home. But don't forget to return the lever when you fill up. My only criticism is a lack of leg room for rear seat passengers but I am 6ft 3inches.
