This Thunderbird is perfect for a long cruise! It is fitted with the optional Landau package and shows very well. It has factory power steering / power brakes / Factory Air. This was when Ford started to focus on luxury. Take a look at the pictures and immerse yourself back to the 60s!
Exterior:
The body is straight and shows very well, the paint reflects nicely, all exterior lights work as they should. The chrome and brightwork show very well. Please take a moment to look at our video so you can see how nice she really is. Tires have 95% tread and it is up to date on its yearly inspection, this was not a car that sat in a barn to rot!
Drivetrain:
This Landau runs like a dream, it shifts through the gears with ease and does not have any drivability issues. The motor does not smoke or make top end or bottom end noises. Power steering feels great and can be maneuvered with one finger for parking. A/C compressor kicks on as it should, and the rear cabin air switch works well. This was a meticulously maintained cruiser.
Key Facts:
-Landau edition
-Comes with a trunk full of Memorabilia!
-Runs and Drives excellent
-All electronics work as they should (2 rear windows need help when operating)
-Paint shows very well
-Custom Lighting
-Warn Neion winch 10K
-Rigid lights
-Rear electric cargo cover
-37×13.50 toyo tires
-Carli Billet fuel cap
-25th Anniversary

My mother used to powder puff drag race our '65 Tbird w/ the 428(?) four barrel and would clean up, because my father had done something to the carburetor and installed an after market cam. One weekend some guy was complaining so much my mother told him to change his tampon, he could keep the trophy and walked away from drag racing. Fortunately, she decided to get her own car and do road rally races, so my father bought her a '65 Corvair coupe that she and I would rally race, w/ me reading the map and looking out for clues/signs. 50 years later, I have a '65 Corvair convertible that I am currently restoring. Great memories of what made me a car guy - my mother and her Corvair.

The 428 engine was not available until 1966. Only choice in '65 was a 390.

Sounds like great memories! My mother used to do the powder puff drag racing as well. My Dad did the regular drag racing, I guess only for men. They had a 65 or 67 Dodge Dart that Mom said would put you back in your seat when you got on it! LOL! She has a trophy somewhere that she won during one of her races. And then I came along and the races were over, at least for my Mom.

Great looking '65 Landau. Got one in white vinyl over dark metallic blue in '95. Did a frame on rebuild. A few up grades along the way. Still have the car, cruise in's shows and occasional trips. Great highway cruiser. 2 tons and something of real Dearborn Iron.

My dad had a 64 white T-bird with turquoise leather interior. It had the 390 with factory air. He bought it for his wife and she didn't like the car! I drove it all the time. I loved the car and took good care of it. I drive Mustangs now but I dream of having one of these classic T-birds one of these days!!! Beautiful car by the way!!!

@silverbird58 they finally dialed in the mustang i bet they could do the thunderbird as well. i was thinking cts/cts v coupe only more thunderbird feel and convertible option is a must all the luxury and the manageable performance of a sports car in a sadan. the 64 and 65 was the true thunderbird perfection. the 56 was just the first the 64 and 65 convertible are what everyone thinks of when you think thunderbird

Beautiful T-Bird! My dad owned a '64, although from this series I think the '66 with the egg crate grill was a bit prettier. while the gauges and speedo in the '64-'66 are unique and interesting, I think I actually prefer the regular round clock gauges of the '61-'63's. I also miss the fins of the '61'-'63 model. I also wonder if you could put in an overdrive unit in this vehicle.

So from 1965 and today we don’t have that much new features lmfao. My 98 Cherokee has manual locks and windows. This thing was ahead of its time, or the real car makers started to slack as the old timers clocked out

@craigjorgensen4637

Yes they did when the linkage got old and sloppy. Worse yet, when they jumped out of Park and into Reverse the Automatic Parking Brake would disengage. This could be deadly! I guess in those days there weren’t recalls!

@@craigjorgensen4637 anyone who owns a Thunderbird I don't see what's so hard about it. It really wasn't a Thunderbird problem anyway at least the T-bird had a slide away steering wheel to lock it.

These "Power Locks" are a bit quaint: they are "vacuum actuated" meaning they don't work unless the car is running. Which means they are just about irrelevant. Getting in: You have to use the key to open the driver door, then start it, then reach to the middle of dash to pull up on the unmarked lever that will unlock the passenger door (the only other door). Not really any better than reaching over to unlock the other door manually. While driving: You can lock or unlock both doors while driving...yay! Driving in rough neighborhoods is no longer a problem! Parked and getting out: You will have to tell your passengers to get out first (while the car is still running). Then when their door is closed (before you shut off the car) you can then use the power lock function to lock the doors. But then you will have locked your own door too. But no problem! You just either remember to open your door before you shut off the car, or you manually unlock your driver door. Then once the car is off and you are outside you will need to use your key to manually re-lock the driver door. Then you walk away with your chest slightly puffed up at how your car has certain luxuries your lesser neighbors do not! Vacuum-actuated locks: Not one of Ford's better ideas.
@dj33036
@dj33036 5 лет назад
If the vacuum storage tank is not leaking it will hold enough vacuum to operate the locks several times without the motor running.
@moesizlac2596
@moesizlac2596 5 лет назад
@@dj33036 hmmm turns out that is a very big "IF"! Perhaps you should demonstrate how many times these vacuum locks actuate on your car...? And, in the event that your car actually has a functional reserve tank, maybe you could give us all a demonstration of how convenient it is to use these locks as you enter and exit the car with a date...

@moesizlac2596 5 лет назад
@@dj33036 oh that's funny! I thot I was talking to the seller (guy that posted the video)... Yeah they kinda are useless, but I never did say they were a piece of shit, only that they were "quaint". ...besides, how would you ever make them remote...? Answer: 2 little electric motors. Really way easier and more reliable...no reason--even back then--to complicate things with all that vacuum crap (alternators were in all cars after 1963-64, so no reason to "save the electrical system") So yeah they are "quaint, useless, garbage that is now a historical curiosity". AKA shit.
@dj33036
@dj33036 5 лет назад
@@moesizlac2596 As for the drivers door locking both doors while you are inside, this was not a problem because the door would automatically unlock when you used the regular door handle to open the door. It wasn't necessary to reach around and manually unlock the door. Having to use the key to re-lock the door was considered a feature since that protected you from locking your keys inside the car. I had an old Mercedes that operated the same way.

The only color unique to the Landau in '65 was Emberglo.
@craigjorgensen4637
@craigjorgensen4637 7 месяцев назад
Not correct. The Special Edition 1965’s were different from the Landau models. They are the ones that were all Emberglow. The Landaus were available in any color.
