About 12 years ago, i was invited and went to all chevelle car show in Oregon, Ohio, at a speed shop. They are a great bunch of guy's.I still run into some of the guys I met at some of the cruises here in michigan, I own a 70 ss with a factory two-tone paint,
There are hidden VIN's in different places on the vehicle. If you would have removed the heater box on the firewall one is there. Problem solved, with no drama
Not on a 1966 Chevelle, they didn’t start partial VIN’s under heater box till August of 1967. Frames are stamped in 3 locations but very difficult to read on 50 year old cars since they are stamped so lightly and put on top of the frame.
That happened to me on my old 52 chev truck. I explained what I have found. They sent me to the bmv to have it inspected. They came out looked at the vin plate took my money and sent me onto the title Bureau.
You’re lucky, the OSP has several garages with detectives and technicians to thoroughly inspect cars. These guys are true car guys too, they are very knowledgeable. Sometime in the 90’s they converted all the titles to the computer and got rid of all the paper records, so when you bring them a title from the 70’s they are a bit more suspicious.
Can't be sure since Ohio does not keep record of older title changes. Beginning in 1992 all ohio titles were changed to a computerized system and older paper records were eliminated. The title I had was from the early 80's if I remember correctly
