On "My Car Story" we're at the Carlisle Events in Carlisle PA on 7-15-22.
We're looking at a 1966 Dodge Charger in Red Paint. The car comes with the 426 CI “Hemi” V8 engine, and 4 Speed manual transmission.
The car's Owner is Gary Leslie. Gary’s had this car since 2021. He shares one of his first cars was a 1966 Dodge Charger however it did not have a 426 Hemi. So he drove a 426 Hemi car, and needed that motor for his car. He purchased a car with that motor, and took it out to put in his 1966 Dodge Charger, but ended up crashing the car. He always wanted that car, and after years of searching, he finally found the right one for him and here it is.
If you’re interested in learning about the different events at the Carlisle Events, go to the website at www.carlisleevents.com
ENJOY!

Mr. Leslie's Charger looks & sounds fantastic from every angle. I don't think it's a coincidence Dodge spent so much time & effort styling the tail end of this car, because with that Hemi, that's the only view most other drivers will get to see. Thanks, Lou!

This first generation was forgotten because of the second one, and this one's direct resemblance to the Coronet. But these are great--I was in sixth grade and a friend of mine's parents had a yellow one of these with a black vinyl interior, a 383cid. I loved those back bucket seats! Great a/c, too.

Lou , you should have shown the full length console and the split bucket seats.... one of the Chargers most unique features. And too bad the dash lights couldn't be seen... another impressive feature , unique to the Charger. I just sold my white 66 383 Charger back to the guy I bought it from 15 years ago. It was a real head turner , with folks trying to figure out what they were seeing .... always attracted a crowd.

Beautiful 66. I have personally been around two of these in my life. First one was owned by the older gentleman that had a shop up the alley from our house when I was around 12 or 13. His was white with a dark maroon interior with the 318/auto. It was all original except for one tire. I had the pleasure of helping him wash it may times. He didn't drive it much as the old tires really weren't safe, but it was such a complete and original car. The second was at a used car lot I worked at in my early twenties. It was black on black with the 383/auto. Far from original and very molested. Definite 70s/80s type hot rod. Keystone Classics and fat tires on the back, skinnies on the front. I had the pleasure of driving that one. Honestly it scared the crap out of me as I was used to the 305 in my Malibu..hehe. I can still smell the varnished fuel and old musty interior of that one. It was fun. Thanks for sharing as always Lou. Every now and then your videos take me back or trigger great memories from my younger days. Take care.

I built lots of car models too. There was a store near our house that sold the kits and it used to hold contests for the best model and presentation. You could build a little stand or scene to show off your model. I remember making one of these early chargers. It had a very interesting interior. When so many cars just had front and rear bench seats, this one had 4 bucket seats and a console!

Great car! In my opinion, this was one, if not the best, of Chrysler products of the 1960s. The styling, inside and out, was sublime, and the attention to detail was wonderful. The back seat was very cool with the buckets seats/console, the fold-down trunk partition, and even the interior lights on the C-pillars they way the were the termination of the chrome trim around the windows. Lou (and crew) as always, thank you for showing these awesome cars to us 👍

This same Hemi Dodge Charger was purchased by an Ohio Bell Telephone Operator, back in the day in Parma, Ohio! I cannot remember her name, but we parked behind the donut shop beside the Pearl Road Manners in Parma, Ohio! It was a 425 HP beast!

Este es un único y hermoso Dodge Charger 1966! Tiene diferencias muy vistosas en comparación con el modelo de 1969 que la famosa serie de TV «The Dukes of Hazzard» popularizó. ¡Me encantó ese pisotón de aceleración y potencia que vimos en el minuto 11:26! ¡Y no es para menos! Ya que hasta le sacó una buena sonrisa a su serio propietario, jaja. ¡Excelente video Lou, y saludos!

I think the Charger's Gauge Cluster @13:02 used "Electroluminescent Lighting" that was similar to the earlier 1960 Chrysler's "Panelescent Lighting"...I've always like the styling of the early Chargers; I think Dodge got the proportions just right when compared with the Rambler Marlin

I don't consider that beating on the car at all. Just stretchin' her legs a little bit! It was built and warranteed with expectations far exceeding that little breathing demonstration. I can't blame Gary for being gentle with the old girl, though.
