This is a walkthrough of my 1966 Mustang Coupe which I restored myself from Dec. 25th 2017 through March of 2019. But then I decided to add some KICK so Nov. 2019 - Jan. 2020, I engine swapped to a mean 347 stroker...enjoy !!
@@arcorob The fender extensions. Did you paint them separately? I think I may have shown in a video where I make extenders to paint them attached to the fender.
Jo Daddy's Garage wow!! You are good!! Extensions, buckets, stone guard and valences done off the car. All the rest done in one shot ( wanted to be sure sides, top, etc. all matched. Good eye. About those extensions... factory as well as the buckets, fenders, hood, etc and still a pain to align !! Best I could. Unlike you, I don’t do metal work so all seams had to be mechanically done.., which is why you amaze me when you go the extra mile
@@arcorob I was not the painter at our body shop, but I was the "judge" of the paint work. Unfortunately, I can spot things most people will never notice. I struggle at car shows....
I’m currently looking into buying a 347 for my 65 with a 289. Question. Can you swap out all your parts from a 289 onto the 347 like water pump, pulleys, oil pan etc.
Yes. Though I do suggest a new water pump because if on a 289 it's old! Some depends if you get a short block or long block. Both cases need to be for a front sump oil pan, , 28oz balance, etc but get a roller, not flat tappet
Hey sir, sorry for the delay. Its a Trickflow stage 1 - PERFECT ...nice idle , mild lope and torque is incredible - I didnt want one that LOPED like a freight train
I know someone in Oregon that we get blocks from. He can get you a nice 302 roller block pretty inexpensive but of course you will have to take it to a machine shop to prep it (bore .30 over, notch the cylinders for the stroker crank, do the bores, etc. I can try and get you the info Monday (my machine shop guy is closed till then ( I paid 200 for the block and 100 shipping)
Great Car. I put a 347 Stroker like yours. But I like your exhaust. I have Magnaflows and really do not like the popping sound when I hit it. What did you use?
Hey sorry for the delay. So what makes mine sound as it does ? Flowmasetr 40 series, SCOTT Drake shortie headers and I have a mild Trickflow cam. You can hear it here ... both at high idle rom and then low idle ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mIRhwyL71P8.html
First you will love your 347 ..I went with a milder trickflow stage 1 cam (I don't like heavy lope, just a nice burble at a stop_ ) Headers are Scott DRake shorty headers...perfect fit...no long tube nightmares. H Pipe and out to two Flowmaster Delta 40's...Two links...car at normal idle in park and then a short drive ..I got on it on a ramp and had to drop the phone because she broke loose...TORQUE monster 1drv.ms/v/s!AoQ15fY-JFvS-YxbclomhmOWEzGWhg Whoops///LOL...Wet road 1drv.ms/v/s!AoQ15fY-JFvS-ZN6pRpFVG_BHS5eww
Thanks so much. It looks and sounds fantastic! 2 more questions... 2. What size pipes? 2. How do you feel about the volume on the exhaust during normal around town driving vs hwy cruising vs wot?
@@brianmaness3087 Hello, pipes are 2 1/14 inch which is fine, It has a nice growl around town but tones down once you hit 3rd (and not on it ) and highway, not a bad drone. You do hear it but its not OMG that's so loud...its interesting because some of the best low rumble exhausts can give you what you want but smooth out ..example...My 08 mustang has roush extreme. Nice deep awesome sound...but by the time I hit 5th , cruising or highway, its very pleasant. I think its because deep tone exhausts smooth out while that's that are more brash / dingy sounding always sound that way...just my opinion ...where are you getting your 347 from ?
@@arcorob I'm glad I stumbled on your post b/c I'm not generally a fan of the Flow Masters. My dad had put some on his 89 gt and they were terrible. So loud it wasn't fun to drive for very long. I think you've sold me on these Delta's. I'm trying to decide on headers. I had a drivetrain from a late 80's mustang in there with some worn out LT headers and a T5. They fit pretty well with a 2 1/2 exhaust, so that's what I'm going to try to go back with. I got my motor from Prestige Motorsports. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nTKw-tCJ75I.html
Roughly ? 8- months. Hard to recall even though I have a video playlist because I was also working mechanical at the same time - if you just calculated body work and paint...umm...maybe 4 months worth....Here is the series part 1 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UMEZm9hJ-b4.html
@@arcorob me and my dad are doing a 66 mustang coupe and someone quoted us 16k for paint and body work I’m trying to figure out what a decent price for that is do u know ?
Got it on ebay...perfect fit www.ebay.com/itm/1965-1967-Ford-Mustang-Leather-Steering-Wheel-Black-Kit-Running-Pony-Emblem/202519309795?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
Do you mean the fan shroud ? Thats a factor style FULL shroud (I think I bought it from NPD) and I THINK it was this one - www.npdlink.com/product/fan-shroud-radiator-3-12-inch-deep/106148?backurl=search%2Fproducts%3Fsearch_terms%3Dfan%252Bshroud%26top_parent%3D200001%26year%3D1966&year=1966
You mean does it run hot ? Not at all...basic cruising in the upper 150's to 160...maybe 170 in heavy traffic...does not overheat and I have driven in 100+ degree temps
@@quentonbarnum4853 185, The key to cool. Good aluminum radiator, new water pump (if yours is old ) and IMPORTANT - FAN shroud and get all the air out. Amazon has a great funnel that attaches to where the cap goes, you keep it full, run the car , gets all the air out. Air equals hots spots. But you have to have a shroud and a higher thermostat. Hope that helps
