Round 2 - Elin vs. Wheel Hub - see who wins. Warming up with some exhaust and other work and the actual fight at the end! Who said nothing homemade will work?
I'm glad you got the front bumper Elin, all the way from California! Thanks for making these videos. You will be a great help to many people for many years
Nice job with the puller Elin. Here is a trick that we used on motorbikes because we often had to pull flywheels and clutch baskets from a taper. When you had cranked up the puller with the air gun you could have removed the socket and then you want to hit the extractor bolt square on with a lump hammer. Hit it straight so you don't bend the extractor bolt. After 2 or three strikes the taper will often release. The shock from the hammer blow can be very effective in causing a taper to release. Give it a try next time - Mark
Thanks Mark! I did that when I was rebuilding my old bike. The flywheel was really stuck and I played for hours with it. But yeah the hammer was what released it.
I wonder if that would have worked with that Spitfire hub. I was never able to pull the TR6 rear hub though. I even rented a big puller. I wanted to change the rear bearing but gave up on it in the end.
Definitely like the addition (or restoration, I should say) of the bumpers. I agree with you as well that the mini-lite style wheels are misplaced a bit...I don't think they look great on the Spitfire. Without the wires, I would have to pick the original dish-types that came on most of them. Nice job on the hub. I have two spares...maybe I should try to take one apart just to see if I can!
It was during a first date too! she watched the tire sail past us~!! we had to walk about 5 miles because we were in a park and no phones there. She was wearing high heel shoes too. Weve been married for 31 years now...we survived the TR6 incident!
Hahaha! She passed the test obviously LOL. I had an accident on a date too. Wasn't a first one, but pretty early. I lost the brakes on my Russian Moskvich and had to bleed them on the side of the road. She was on the pedal and she kept laughing at how I was "pulling" her foot from a distance.... She found it really funny. Couple of months later my engine seized and we "roped" the car home with my Mom's car. My GF was in the car behind and she never touched a steering wheel before that. I "dragged" her for about 20km with no accidents LOL. So she did pass the test and she did marry me, but sadly we've been married for only 4 years and got divorced.
