Well done for getting the body off so smoothly, look forward to seeing how you invent something to flip it over. Plenty of work on that bulkhead by the looks of things!! Seeing wiring loom so exposed it reminded me of the problems I had with my Spitfire fuse box. Over time the fuse holder tabs became loose leading to loss of contact. I lost the lights one night and got pulled over by the police!! In the end I got it fixed by bypassing it, using inline fuses, but leaving the box in place so it looked right. Worth having a look. Good luck from Spain!!

Excellent video that exemplifies why it took me two years to rebuild my Triumph Tr3a. Keep up the good work Elin.

This is a good milestone in this restoration. Once the body is removed the work on those inaccessible areas becomes so much easier.

On my Spitfire I fitted a new Kunifer fuel pipe in one piece from the joint on top of the tank to the joint at the fuel pump. This was after the connection under the car suddenly sprung a leak. The rubber connection had totally deteriorated, maybe because of modern fuel, but it can't happen there again.

Great work Elin.. That all went really well. The chassis doesn't look that bad.. I've seen a lot worse ! You might need some rust converter 'inside' the box sections , ha-ha..

That’s some great progress. You’re coming on in leaps and bounds. Great to see Nik in the garage with you too, doing his stuff.

Timmy this was a pretty crucial tutorial. you are frustrated points that I’m gonna need to pay strict attention to when I mate the body to the frame. When I purchased my project they were already separated in fact the bolts were in a pile of other bolts and it’s gonna be a lot of fun figuring out what Bolt came to wet but I can always go back to the factory spec sheet find out type of bolt as well as length and TPI. The good thing is I have a heads up from what you illustrated and talked about in this video. Thank you very much again a stellar video good to see your young lad there working away on his project very encouraging!!

You could fabricate yourself a rotisserie with different mounting solutions for different cars. Depending how deep you and Nick want to go into the MX5, it could be handy for that as well.

I have been looking forward to this video. Separating the body from the frame makes a real rebuild possible. Now that the body is reconstructed and strong enough to live on its own you can get to otherwise inaccessible areas of both the body and frame. This is going to be a magnificent car when you are finished, Elin.

Great video. Been looking forward to this one. Doing a great job. I had a Mk3 Spitfire and those handbrake connections always totally bind with rust.

Elin, another fine episode; thank you! I couldn't help but notice that Rusty, your SSD (Shop Supervisor Dog) was diligently trying by circling the body as you were beginning the lift that you had left that radius arm connected. lol If only he could talk, he would have said as much, but he did sniff out the problem! ha-ha

The other day he was barking at me a lot. I kept telling him to go away, but he kept coming and barking. I even yelled at him. Then I squaded to open a drawer and something stung me hard at the back of my ankle. It turned out there was a hornet on the back of my leg and he was trying to tell me :) I apologized and gave him a treat. He is a smart dog.

@@RustyBeauties Long ago, I had a friend who owned a black lab. He was a psychology major at the time and he swore up and down that his dog was a better psychologist than he could ever be. Black labs will watch and study their humans! They indeed are a smart breed.

Those fenders must be 2nd pressings so I reckon it's a wise move, again, to cut the new fender. I thought this was your car, you work on it like it is.. What is the difference between the tr6 engine and the GT6, I thought they where the same?
@RustyBeauties
@RustyBeauties Год назад
They are very similar. I believe only the crank is different. It has a shorter stroke for GT6 and even though the cylinder bore is the same the displacement is only 2L for GT6 vs. 2.5L for TR6. There are some other minor discrepancies, this is the main differnve

@@RustyBeauties That really interesting. (I guess the later Triumph 2.0 Vitesse engine is also similar. So are we saying that a 2.5 version of this engine would fit just as well if the owner wanted a bit more “oomph”?
@RustyBeauties
@RustyBeauties Год назад
@@philtucker1224 oh, yeah, it’s been done. The oil filter housing needs to be changed as there isn’t much room and I believe the coolant hoses setup in the front is different, engine mounts too, I think, but yeah, many people do it.
@pbysome

@@RustyBeauties thank you, I didn't know that, thought they where the same, I had a spitfire and a TR6 I always thought it was the same motor. It must be the same motor as the triumph 2000 saloon??
