1967 Dodge Coronet R/T 440 Magnum Convertible Muscle Car Of The Week Video #99
This week, we're taking a look at the car that kicked off the R/T line for Dodge, a 1967 Coronet R/T 440. This one is super-sharp in Medium Blue with a white interior and convertible top. From the Brothers Collection.

One of the most beautiful Dodges ever made!! The car took a lot from the first Charger. A friend of mine got one of these brand new to go to college....must be nice to have a rich daddy....and I got a ride in it. Had 440 in it....I kissed the ground when I got out.....never again rode with that guy. I was paying my way thru college with 3 part-time jobs and driving a clapped '57 Ford with 240,000+ miles on it. I made it thru college...he didn't. There must be a moral to the story but, honestly, I'd rather had his car!

My Dad owned a Dodge dealership(Brazil Motors) in Brazil,In. , from 1959 till1968. I remember riding in a brand new '67 R/T 440, TF, B-5 blue w/ black vinyl top, after it was serviced and lot ready. The mechanic,Don, drove it easy for a few miles, then on a desserted county road, stopped in the road, and punched it. both tires lit up,and stayed lit through second gear. He then stopped and launched that puppy, and it plastered me to the bucket seat! First time burnout= life long fan!

I bought this exact car in 1967. My car had a black top. The car was one bad ass 440.

I had a 67 Dodge RT White Hat Special . That was a promotional package promoted by Dandy Dick Landy. It came with a white top and white interior with the 440.Beautiful car.Dick used to do the commercials and the ads wearing a white hat.The Dodge girl wore one too.

I really enjoy all your muscle car reviews. It brings me back to the time when cars like this beautiful Dodge Coronet were common to see on the highway.

If I was buying a brand new car in 1967 it would be a Coronet R/T or Plymouth GTX with the 440-4 speed and probably a 3.55 rear axle. Awesome ride. Among my favorite muscle cars ever made👍👍

I love mine, had it for 40 years now, same combo, but hardtop and a 4 speed, keep good gas in it and runs up north of 100 with no problems!

The Coronet was always a subdued understated model that could be made from a mild grandma car to a wild, big blocked 4 speed manual trans wild hot machine.

i do admire a pretty looking car that goes really hard and can stand up to looking good and not mean and tough.

150 MPH with a 323 open rear end was scary back in my day on this car. Did that before upgrading my 67!

Besides the 440 mag and the hemi, you could also order special factory built 440s which were basically racing engines which are never mentioned in any books or videos as they were not a stock item but was an option if you knew to ask. If I remember correctly, the engines of that year, came with an unheard of back then 100,000 mile warranty. Other options on this car were electric windows, AC, an am/fm 3 speaker stereo system, disc front brakes, factory tachometer, and a posi track rear end. Properly ordered you had an almost 11 flat quarter mile car straight from the factory for 5800 dollars. plus taxes of course. My dad gave me his for my 16th birthday.

Well your story didn't lead to an ending tinged with regret and sadness about not keeping the vehicle which seems to be how 90% of these early owner muscle car stories end, so i'm assuming you kept it. Congratulations! A story with a happy ending. I'm guessing that in '67 your dad was 21, that you were born in '69, and got the car as a gift in '85, so now have had it about 35 years? Lot of room for error there, but am I close? Hope you never have to sell it and can give it to a deserving relative. I'm not going to start guessing when/if you got married or have deserving kids. Eleven flat in the quarter mile straight from the factory? Hard to believe. But a good story.

My dad gave me his 67 3 years ago. Factory disc brakes, AC, power steering, power windows, mag wheels and it's a convertible. Blue with white interior. Just had the radiator rebuilt and its ready for car show season!

Any of these MoPars have the factory installed 'reverb' knob for the radio? Mine was down below the dash on the right and you would pull it down to turn the reverb on.

I am a die hard Ford fan but I must say, this car looks incredible. The blue color with the splash of red and white looks stunning. All in all, a very impressive car. By the way in that last launch it appeared like this car did not have positive traction. Is that a one wheel peel? Oh, I almost forgot to mention that 150 MPH speedometer looks kinda slick.

Dashboard is a tad minimalistic compared to the chrome console and steering wheel. It´s just cheap plastic with some silver grey lining. Even Dart & Satellite dashboards looked nicer: I´d be tempted to put a charger interior in it. Still an awesome car, though.
