I was a Japanese auto mechanic for 30 years and when we had a customer that had a vehicle with piston ring wear and they simply couldn’t afford to fix the car correctly we would use the Restore product just to try to keep them going. It will slow oil consumption if it’s worn rings. Obviously if you have valve seals it won’t help. Restore has a ton of nano sized metals in it to help fill in worn areas in cylinder walls and rings. Copper, MOS2, Antimony and other vitamins. I’m not a huge proponent of additives but Restore is a BandAid that can help certain wear related issues. I’m suspecting that your truck has worn out guides along with normal ring wear. I’ve seen them with worn guides suck oil in past the intake valves and push it out past the exhaust valves and never smoke. #1 cylinder always wears significantly more than the other five do on the 300 six. Something related to the water pump cooling that cylinder more than the others. I’ve built several of them over the years and they are extremely easy and affordable to rebuild and will run for years afterwards. Good luck with yours.👍

Thanks for the comment! Stay tuned as I suspect my issue is guide wear also. The next video on this truck most likely will be pulling the head. I want to check the cylinder wall condition, valve guides, replace the umbrella seals, inspect the head for cracks, and pull the lifters and check them. Valve cover and lifter bank gasket need replaced anyway and will give me a chance to set the rockers and inspect everything visually. That should be enough information to decide if Im going to pull the engine. So much room under this hood to work that it should be an easy job. Thanks so much for watching!

Seems that motor is clean and perhaps just fine! Ford sixes are very reliable, the rest of the truck appears that it's worth some Love and Time, and Put some road miles on it

Yes for sure! More coming on this truck this fall. I have floorpans in for replacement and I'm thinking I'll tackle the interior over the winter. Thanks for watching!

Wow, that’s some serious oil usage. Is it burning that much or leaking? That transmission fluid must have never been changed with that much glitter in it. Hope you find out what the mystery parts are, I’d sure be interested to know. Looking forward to whatever else you do I love these old Fords. Always a good day when you can spend it cruising with the kids. 👍🏻

I honestly don't know yet. If it's leaking, it's dropping free of the truck. When parked, there might be a few drops the next day but very little. It's also not smoking nearly as bad as it should be. Honestly, those plugs should have been completely fouled and missing badly but seems to be running fine. I've never seen one use this much oil and still run unless it was leaking. Right now, it's a mystery. I might pull the head next just to inspect the top end. Also, I need to pull the inspection cover on the bell housing and see if there is oil in there. Could be a blown rear seal. Thanks for watching!

Nice Truck! Have you heard of Rislone engine flush?

I have seen the rislone but never tried it. I might give it a go. I've been driving it this summer on and off, but no improvement with the heat cycles. I'm thinking I'll pull the engine in the spring and give it a quick refresh. Thanks for watching!

@@awayfromtherange I am an owner of 3 bumpsides 68 69 70 all f250 with all the goodies. Two are crew cab shortboxes. The 69 is very needy! Not a dent one but lots of rusties, all doors close like Cadillac doors. Undercarriage has 40 k on it. It's my favorite and had it since new! And Rislone does a great job of cleaning engines internal. Did you ever find where 3 questions of oil goes in 70 miles? Does it smoke? Keep your ears open for a donor truck with good hood and a short box would be a nice e thought also. Thanks for the Reply,Enjoy the ride!

Please dont lower that truck.. I have no idea why ppl do that to these trucks it looks retarted and you are in the U.S not old Mexico lol... I would ask a question in a forum that deals with old motors about oil consumption in that 300. Maybe get a crate motor 302 or 390. Truck is perfect as is just do new paint job like a two tone or etc the body looks to good to leave her as is!!
