Hi mate, when I saw the thumbnail I was quite surprised as I come from the "real Angloshere" 😂 where the first cars to receive rubber fittings came the Exoctics/Super Cars, then BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc. The one car that stands out was WV Golf Gti which you call "Rabbit" had one. With later models it became a nightmare when approaching driveways with an incline or decline and of course the curb when a driveway has a lip off the road for drainage or is steep. I have mk4 Golf with "Gti" lip, almost every time I fill petrol I scrap the curb & have to unscrew it and re-install it. 😂 when am going to learn beats me. The younger would never do that or curb rash the rims. I just thought, I'd share that with a fellow petrolhead. As always Greetings from Auckland, New Zealand.

Lol 😂, yeah I figured it would be a cool change for the car and give it a new look and style, just figured I’d give it a try. Yeah those exotic sports cars definitely started a trend, and they look really cool, although like you were saying, sometimes you have to be careful of scrapping. Luckily so far my car still sits up high enough I haven’t scrapped anything yet, which if I do luckily it’s got some give to it so I don’t think it will hurt it. Thanks for sharing your experience, that sounds like it could be a headache at times, but that’s how we car guys are huh, we’ll do extra work to keep something that we think is so cool or we’ve always wanted even though we don’t actually really need it, but it’s all part of the fun of being a car enthusiast lol, and I love it. Greetings, Thanks for continuing to be a supporter of the channel and thanks for watching.

I think it looks really cool! I just painted the hood on my ‘69 Torino black. And I’m thinking about making a nascar style rear spoiler to mount on my trunk. And with the front and rear spoiler it would look cool. Awesome video, and an awesome car!

Thank you! Much appreciated bud. Hell yeah, I bet it looks sick, I been thinking about doing the same thing to mine with the hood, something to help break up all the yellow lol. I think with my black c stripe and grille and now front spoiler it would look real good on there. Go for it man, it’ll be unique and look wicked, Plus it would make for a good project. Good luck on your install. Thanks again, glad you enjoyed the video and the car. Thanks for watching.

Thank you, much appreciated! Yeah it’s not for everyone, and I’m kinda torn on it right now, I like it for now but idk if I’ll keep it on there. You’re welcome, glad you enjoyed watching the process. Thanks for watching.

Remove chrome strip on side of car, Mag. 500's are a must.just a thought. Nice ride.

@FastFords289 5 месяцев назад
Oh trust me it’s in the future plans lol. I’ve never liked that chrome strip but if I remove it now I’ll have holes, so I have to wait till I do the body work. I like the mag 500’s too but the wheels I have now are the wheels I knew I always wanted ever since the first time I saw one of these cars and fell in love. Thank You! I really appreciate it, and thanks for watching.

@@FastFords289 Hi, can you provide more details on the wheel and tire set up? thank you
@MircoAlexander365
@MircoAlexander365 2 месяца назад
This video was uploaded 3 months ago, the leaf spring video was 7 months ago so the current stance is with new 1" higher leaf springs correct? 10:43 looks beautiful, very nice stance.
@FastFords289
@FastFords289 2 месяца назад
@@MircoAlexander365 correct, this is how the car sits now, after new leaf springs. As far as the wheel info, I know they’re 17x7 inch wheels, I think a 4-1/2 inch backspacing and stock offset if I remember correctly. However if I could do it again I’d probably go with a 5 inch backspacing and change the offset a bit, I’m just not sure on how much, I’d have to do some math and measurements and figuring to decide on what. When I bought these wheels I wasn’t as experienced with dealing with these kind of things. These were the very first set of aftermarket wheels I ever bought so it was a learning process for me. Also I know they’re the American racing Shelby wheels part number VN427. Hope this helps, glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching.

@@FastFords289 Thanks for your response. Why would you go a different route with 5" backspacing and offset if you could do it again? clearance issues? Yes, VN427, I have always liked those. Thanks again.

I need a used 68 hood and bumpers, RUSTY BUMPERS ARE Ok.
@FastFords289
@FastFords289 5 месяцев назад
Well I don’t have an extra hood laying around, once I replace mine then I will but not sure exactly when that’ll be though. As far as bumpers go, I only got the front which is rusty and has been painted from previous owners, and I scrapped the rear bumper because it was bent, rusty and painted. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Thanks for watching though.

Looks real good! I ever thought about a front spoiler on ours too but few have done it until now. I like the 71-73 much but they have their fitment issues as I see now. I thought also about the '69 and 67/68 Mustang spoiler, they may be easier on the fitment side. Did you checked them out?
@FastFords289
@FastFords289 5 месяцев назад
Thank you, much appreciated! Yeah it does have its issues but looks good once you work through it. No I haven’t looked into the 67-68 mustang spoilers. I feel like they would be too narrow for my style since the mustang is a smaller car than a Torino/fairlane but I could be wrong about the fitment. I have thought about ordering a spoiler for a 70-71 Torino and trying it to see how it fits, as those cars are very similar to the 68-69 torinos as far as size goes. Thanks for watching.

OK, that sounds good. Perhaps you could check that out. I am looking forward to your result. Otherwise I will give the 71-73 a chance...

I saw you deleted your spoiler in the meantime. I have installed one too - a 68/69 Camaro front spoiler with stabilizer bars. Fits perfect, only had to drill some small holes and now it has the looks it needed. Would send you some fotos if wanted but figured not out how yet…

Yeah I did, I just didn’t really care for it as much as I thought I would. I had heard the 68-69 Camaro spoilers fit and look good so I thought about trying one of them. I would like to see how one actually looks on these cars.
