Pictures of refinishing the wiper motor on my 1968 Chevy 2 Nova. April 2013. The motor from what I can tell is not original as it had blue paint on it in area's (rebuilt one put on at some time).
Yes,it is the Grecian Green. As far as your wiper motor, just make sure everything is plugged in properly. One wire to the motor is an accessory 12V feed and the rest of the motor as well as the washer pump work off of grounds from the wiper switch. Also too, make sure the wiper motors ground connection is good. On mine, they use a small brass plate that is riveted to the wiper motor assembly and then uses one of the mounting screws to then connect the motor to ground. If you show voltage on the proper wire and you have a ground, then the only thing to test would be the grounds connected at different times on the switch depending on it's position but this would require an ohm meter. I wonder too, if there is a ground not connected off of the switch or if it's self grounding is a ground plate missing ?. A test I would do also rig up a test jumper wire from the motor to a ground on the engine or firewall. I don't know if it's in this video but I also have the still pictures in another album that might show better detail: www.flickr.com/photos/121766713@N04/albums/72157657337347886 c1.staticflickr.com/1/776/20639960956_3833dbee08_b.jpg c1.staticflickr.com/1/721/20672807041_9f8a9aff1a_b.jpg
StlNovas Awesome thanks! This ones been sitting for some time. They ran for 4 wipes then locked up. Honestly I'd never looked at them closely until failure, and assumed they were vacuum operated like the hideaway headlights we took from a Caprice. Definitely an important component that I neglected, but we'll get it going. Thanks again, cheers!
If the car has been siting a while, look at my video and see how the motor comes out of the firewall and how the linkage attaches and then disconnect the linkage and then with it disconnected, see if you can manually wipe the wipers. Maybe the linkage and/or shafts are bound up preventing operation that the wiper motor cannot overcome. Jim
